The trailer for the much-anticipated horror anthology TV series, Siyaah, has been released and it includes an exciting lineup of star-studded stories. Imran Raza Kazmi, the producer of the 2013 movie Siyaah, announced in 2021 that he is creating a drama with 25 stories with every episode having a different storyline and different actors. Turns out, the actors are some of the biggest names in the industry.
Kazmi told Images in 2021, “I think for the first time ever in any industry this is happening”. The show is produced by Kazmi and actor Hareem Farooq, who has collaborated with him on most of his projects, including Janaan, Parchi and Heer Maan Ja, and it is set to release on new channel Green Entertainment.
The suspenseful trailer looks promising and has several jumpscares, but it’s the actors that make the series more exciting, as this will be the first time this many stars will be collaborating in a single show.
Hareem Farooq & Arsalan Naseer
Apart from being a co-producer of the series, Farooq will also be seen in one of the episodes with Arsalan Naseer. The episode, Dou Anjaane is about “two souls who fall in love”, in which Farooq plays Alizay and Naseer plays Sherry. It is directed by Hum Aapas Mein creator Sabeeh Ahmad and written by Ameer Hussain.
Adnan Siddiqui & Alyy Khan
The trailer shows clips of the episode, Iqbal-e-Jurm, and Adnan Siddiqui’s laughter in it gives us goosebumps. He plays Bedar, who will have a “face-off with Hasil”, played by Alyy Khan. The description says, “A criminal on one side and the law on the other. But where’s the law and whose the criminal?” The episode is written and directed by Zeeshan Ilyas.
Another exciting addition to the series is actor Hania Aamir, who will be playing the role of an ambitious journalist named Nausheen Faryaad who is investigating schools with ghosts and lands up in a school possessed by demons. The episode, Unn Ko Choti Na Mile, is also directed by Ilyas.
Dil Awaiz actor Affan Waheed will be seen in episodes Bhayank, in which he plays the role of Sarfarz, “a lonely man suffering from schizophrenia who checks into an eerie guest house where he just might be the next target of cannibals.” This episode is also written and directed by Hussain and Ahmad.
Hira Mani will be seen in the episode Haail, in which she plays Uzma, a proactive aunt who goes to all lengths to shield her niece from forces of dark evil.
Paristan actor Asad Siddiqui will be seen as Wasi Khan, a psychic being haunted by the ghost of a former client desperate to avenge him in the episode Rooh Daad.
Is this a Pakistani take on the famous Scream franchise? Durefishan Saleem will be seen as Sara, an intelligent, career-driven girl who is stalked by “a creepy masked killer” The episode Mask Man is written by Hammad Hassan and directed by Ahmad.
Faysal Qureshi plays a police officer who is investigating a suspicious murder case in the episode Jhol.
Sami Khan is part of two episodes — Lawaris, in which he plays an “extraordinarily gifted homicide detective suffering from PTSD” and Karsaz, along with actor Usama Khan.
Ali Ansari will also be seen in episodes Khoat, in which he plays “an introverted and timid boy” who decides to get revenge from his bullies.
Osman Khalid Butt
Osman Khalid Butt, who was rumoured to be writing one of the episodes for the series, is acting in episode Lutrum Putrum. He is playing the role of a sad husband trying to break free from his mean wife by seeking help from a baba.
Another missing child story — in Ghaat, Babar Ali plays a father on a mission to investigate the mysterious kidnapping of his beloved daughter.
Zhalay Sarhadi & Noor Zafar Khan
Zhalay Sarhadi and Noor Zafar Khan will be seen in episode Bar Aks, in which they go through a dark secret in two different time zones.
Mariyam Nafees will be returning to the TV screen after 2021 in the episode Raat Andheri, in which she plays “a righteous girl with a firm sense of morality who bears haunting consequences of a mistake.”
The YouTuber-turned-actor will be seen playing the main lead in the episode Paanch, in which he has to “bear the consequence of an act of buffoonery gone wrong and dark.”
Humsafar actor Navin Waqar will be seen in Nangay Pair which is about a “picture-perfect family haunted by the ghost of her child servant”.
The Siyani actor will be seen in two episodes — Baharbano, in which he plays “a headstrong man ready to fight against all odds when the life of him and his wife gets eclipsed by an ancient spirit” and Karsaz, along with Sami Khan.
Maryam Noor Ismail
The Silsilay actor will be seen in the episode Chandra Mai, playing the role of “a pregnant woman living in a village haunted by the ghost of Chandar Mai who feeds on unborn babies.”
