Miss Universe 2021 winner Harnaaz Sandhu has been sued by film producer and actor Upasana Singh. According to reports in the Indian media, Singh has moved a local court against the pageant winner, accusing her of breaching an agreement she signed to promote Punjabi film Bai Ji Kuttange.

On Thursday, Singh filed a civil suit in the Chandigarh district court seeking damages for the alleged breach of contract by Sandhu. The Kapil Sharma Show’s Bua ji plays a lead role in the film and Sandhu the main female lead.

According to The Indian Express, Singh said, “I gave Harnaaz a chance to act in the movie Bai ji Kuttange. Not only this, I also made Yaara Diyan Poo Baran in which Harnaaz is the heroine as well.”

Talking to media, the producer claimed that Sandhu bagged the role before she got the title of Miss Universe and she had made herself available in order to train her as an actor. She said that Sandhu had to make herself available in person and virtually to promote the film under an agreement but she refused to give dates for the movie’s promotion.

“I gave her a chance at that time when she was not Miss Universe. I spent a huge sum on this movie. It is not a small budget movie,” Singh said, claiming she had to postpone the movie’s release from May 27 to August 19.

Dev Kharoud and Gurpreet Ghuggi have also acted in Bai Ji Kuttange alongside Sandhu and Singh. The film has been directed by Smeep Kang and also stars Singh’s son, Nanak.

Sandhu was crowned last year in December a the annual pageant event held in Israel. She’s the third Indian to have won the title after Lara Dutta, who won in 2000 and Sushmita Sen in 1994.

Is this claim worth pursuing even if you have your day in the court? Your emotions for Harnaaz appear still very strong. An unconditional forgiveness to her will give you higher moral victory and an embarrassment to your "daughter".
