From fighting Vecna and the demogorgons to a director’s seat, things have changed for Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things. The star who plays the character Mike Wheeler in the hit Netflix show will now write and co-direct a horror-comedy film with Ghostbusters: Afterlife star Billy Bryk.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Wolfhard will be co-directing Hell of a Summer alongside Bryk. Details of the plot are still being kept under wraps but one thing has been revealed — the film is based on an original script written by the actors.

In addition to their off-camera duties, both will star alongside Fred Hechinger. “I am so excited to be co-directing my first feature film. I get the chance to work with an incredible cast and crew, and to work with a company like 30West and Aggregate is a real dream,” Wolfhard said in a statement.

Wolfhard is one of the stars of the show Stranger Things. Season four volume 1 and 2 of the show have just been released and are breaking records on Netflix. Later this year, the actor is set to appear next to Hollywood bigwig Julianne Moore in the A24 dramedy When You Finish Saving the World produced by Emma Stone.

Both Wolfhard and Bryk have starred together in the Ghostbusters franchise and will be sharing the screen in Stone’s production. Bryk has also starred in the Stranger Things star’s short film Night Shifts.
