‘Legend standing in the rain’: Usman Mukhtar urges followers to show gratitude to buskers in Islamabad
Eid is about gratitude and celebration but for actor Usman Mukhtar it’s also a moment to appreciate the people around him, even if it’s a busker on the street, making a living in the rainy season on a public holiday.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Mukhtar shared a photo of himself and a street busker from Islamabad who paints himself golden and imitates a statue.
“On Eid when we all are celebrating with our families, I saw this legend standing in the rain earning his bread. He is the Golden Boy, one of the entertainers on our streets that give themselves up and commit to a role,” he wrote.
As part of his Eid wish, Mukhtar also wrote that the rain had washed the gold paint off this busker’s body, but nothing could wash off “the gold heart that he has”. He also requested that if anyone sees him in Islamabad, they must show him their gratitude.
His post received a lot of comments from his followers, appreciating his efforts to highlight the busker on the streets of Islamabad. It also received a comment from singer Uzair Jaswal.
On the work front, Mukhtar is currently working behind the scenes on a horror film called Gulabo Rani that will be releasing this month. The trailer released last month.
The film’s rather chilling tagline seen and heard in the trailer was, “The main work of haunting is done by the living.” From what we can tell from the trailer, the film is about a haunted hostel. With very little dialogues, the trailer was carried by dark visuals and haunting music as well as sound effects.
The film has been directed by Mukhtar and written by Ali Mudar and Mukhtar’s wife Zunaira Inam Khan. It’s being produced under Mukhtar and his brother Meiraj’s production company Eastern Terrestrial Studios that was launched in April.
