When a musical legend hosts a party, it's sure to be attended by the best the music industry has to offer. Similarly, Indian singer and composer AR Rahman's wedding reception for his daughter Khatija Rahman was a star-studded event attended by Indian singers Honey Singh, Sonu Nigam and even Tajik singer Abdu Rozik.

Khatija tied the knot with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed in a nikah ceremony in May. On Friday, the couple had their wedding reception in Chennai. Several of Rahman's industry friends and colleagues were in attendance — some artists also performed live on stage.

Indian actor Sahil Khan shared a video of the blue themed event setting, panning in on Singh and Nigam, among other members of the industry.

Singh posted a photo with the family and sent his blessings to the newlyweds: "Best wishes to the blessed couple and congratulations to the whole AR RAHMAN sir’s families and fans!"

Dressed for the occasion, Rozik in sherwani kurta sang 1988 Bollywood song 'Papa Kehte Hain' at the reception. His performance was followed by a handshake from Rahman and applause from the guests.

Rozik and Rahman had previously performed Rahman's song 'Mustafa Mustafa' together in January.

The 'Kun Faya Kun' singer announced Khatija's wedding online by sharing a family photo from the nikah ceremony. On May 5, the music maestro wrote, "May the Almighty bless the couple .. thanking you in advance for your good wishes and love.”

In 2019, the singer and his daughter faced backlash for her face veil. In response the 'Jai Ho' singer had defended his daughter and supported her. Khatija had taken to social media and wrote that wearing the veil was a personal choice.

Many today may not know AR Rehman is a revert to islam. I have seen him offering Jumah prayers here in California. He devotes a lot of time in finishing his prayer and it is so soothing that her daughter is following the religion.

I wonder how long such Muslim celebrities will be tolerated in Hindu India, we must invite Rehman sahib to move here before things get worse in india.

@nk It's purely political. Rampant loots & plundering of assets (land, forest, minerals) are going on by the corporates & ruling elites. Hindutva slogan / religion card / cast card are the different weapons of BJP / RSS to make people engage on shallow issues so that the loot can be carried on, uninterruptedly. Simple.
