US rapper Rakim Mayers, better known as A$AP Rocky, was arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred in Hollywood in November 2021.

According to PEOPLE, the 33-year-old artist was arrested on Wednesday, April 20, by the Los Angeles Police Department at LAX just after returning from a holiday with pregnant girlfriend Rihanna. Rocky was charged with assault with a deadly weapon — carrying a firearm is a felony at LAX. According to court records, his bail was set at $550,000.

The rapper was under investigation by the police for a shooting that occurred in Hollywood on November 6. The surviving victim of the incident had alleged that Rocky had shot him following an argument. He was later treated for a minor injury. According to the publication, the Los Angeles police said Rocky and two additional males fled on foot following the shooting.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.

In January, Rihanna and Rocky revealed she's pregnant with her first child via a stroll through New York City. The 33-year-old Barbados-born singer and business mogul showed off her baby bump in a long pink coat, walking alongside the rapper through Harlem.

Rocky had the rumour mill churning earlier in April over allegations of cheating on Rihanna. The rumour was slammed by shoe designer Amina Muaddi who has worked on the Fenty brand alongside the 'Diamonds' singer for the last few years.

"I've always believed that an unfounded lie spread on social media doesn't deserve any response or clarification, especially one that is so vile," she wrote a note on her Instagram story on April 15. "I initially assumed that this fake gossip — fabricated with such malicious intent — would not be taken seriously. However, in the last 24 hours, I've been reminded that we live in a society that is so quick to speak on topics, regardless of factual basis and that nothing is off limits. Not even during what should be one of the most beautiful and celebrated times in one's life.

"Therefore I have to speak up as this is not only directed towards me, but is related to people I have a great amount of respect for," she wrote. "While Rih is continuing to live her serene, best dressed pregnancy life and I go back to my business — I wish everyone a beautiful Easter weekend."
