Kareena Kapoor's outfits are the stars of the show at the Ranbir-Alia wedding
All eyes have been on Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the last couple of weeks, after news broke that they would be tying the knot but at their wedding it was Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor who stole the show — at least among the guests — and stunned fans with her shimmery ensembles.
Ranbir and Bhatt tied the knot in a private ceremony at their residence in Vastu, Mumbai on April 14. The two-day affair — from April 13 to April 14 — consisted of a range of festivities including mehndi, haldi, wedding and sangeet ceremonies. The guest-list included close family. Kareena, Ranbir's first cousin, was clicked by the paparazzi the moment she stepped out of her car and netizens could not get enough of Bebo's silver outfit, courtesy of Indian designer Manish Malhotra.
"The gorgeous and graceful Kareena Kapoor Khan stuns at #RanbirKapoor and #AliaBhatt’s mehndi in our #Khaab ensemble, an intricate handcrafted Kashmiri lehenga set highlighted in three-tone sequins paired with a dreamy drape," the designer captioned a snap of Kareena modelling the lehenga.
Kareena's silver lehenga was sequinned throughout and included shades of pale yellow and light pink and blue. She accessorised it with a three-tier diamond necklace and a braided hairstyle. The Heroine actor went for a light makeup look that went perfectly with the daytime wedding event.
The Jab We Met actor and husband Saif Ali Khan seem to have a thing for coordinating pink and white outfits at weddings — Indian media outlets have spotted a pattern where the couple has been repeating and twinning in these shades. They donned the same colours at Khan's sister Soha Ali Khan and actor Sonam Kapoor's weddings.
Kareena chose Malhotra as the designer for her outfit for the main wedding ceremony as well — the actor chose a glammed up look with a pastel pink sari with ivory embroidery. She paired it with a matching jewellery set and a sequined potli bag. Her makeup was minimal and elegant.
"The absolutely fabulous Kareena Kapoor Khan exudes timeless glamour at #RanbirKapoor and #AliaBhatt’s wedding in our classic zari embroidered organza #mymmsari," Malhotra captioned the photo.
Kareena seems to have loved her look as much as we did because she can't stop posting pictures from the wedding. She posted a photo with Indian filmmaker Karan Johar captioned, "Kaun hai yeh jisne doobara mudke humein nahin dekha? [Who is the person who didn't turn to look at us again?]," referring to her well-known dialogue with film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, directed by Johar.
She also posted a family photo with her husband and sons talking about the struggles of coordinating it in the caption.
Kareena's look was a refreshing change from heavily embroidered ensembles with glammed up faces that have become a norm at weddings. We loved that she chose something relatively simple and chic paired with a makeup that feels natural and fresh. Our favourite was the sari.
Aside from totally setting a bar for wedding glam, her look takes us back to a specific Bollywood era — the braided hairstyle particularly was sported by Bebo in Jab We Met, a film that had everyone obsessed at the time. A decade and a half may have passed but Kareena remains timeless with her looks.
