Shah Rukh Khan to launch his own OTT app called SRK+
Shah Rukh Khan is already the king of Bollywood and Indian movies but it seems like he's decided to expand his rule — Shah Rukh just revealed that something is coming up in the OTT world and disclosed the label "SRK+".
Bollywood actor Salman Khan immediately congratulated him for launching his own OTT app, ridding fans of the suspense that built up after Shah Rukh's announcement, replacing it with excitement.
"Kuch kuch hone wala hai, OTT ki duniya mein [Something's coming up in the world of OTT]," king Khan captioned an Instagram post.
Salman was quick to kill the suspense caused by the teaser when he congratulated SRK for launching his own app.
Indian filmmaker Karan Johar also expressed excitement over the news, claiming it'll "change the face of OTT."
Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap revealed he is collaborating with the Dilwale actor on his new OTT app.
The My Name is Khan actor had teased his OTT debut in an advertisement for streaming giant Disney+ Hotstar in Sept last year. The video began with him waving at fans from his balcony as he took pride in the fact that no star managed to pull such a huge crowd outside their house. But his manager told him that he is not sure about the superstar’s future because barring him, the biggest stars have now joined the OTT bandwagon.
Shah Rukh shared the video on social media with a suggestive caption that read, “Hmmmm…. Picture toh abhi baaki hai….mere doston… [The film is to continue, my friends] #SiwaySRK.”
Shah Rukh had ventured into the digital streaming space as a producer with Bard of Blood and Betaal, both series streaming on Netflix. The projects were backed by his production house. Shah Rukh will be next seen in Pathaan, gearing up for a January 25, 2023 release.
