Iqra Aziz wants people to stop judging mothers who have C-section births

The actor shared her own experience with a Caesarean delivery on social media.
07 Mar, 2022

Actor Iqra Aziz took to social media to share her thoughts on an issue that isn't publicly talked about too often — the judgment many mothers receive when they deliver their child via a Caesarean section as opposed to a natural delivery.

The Suno Chanda actor shared her husband Yasir Hussain's Instagram story about appreciating women who've delivered through C-section and added her own thoughts on the matter. "I probably wouldn't have had the confidence to tell the world how Kabir was born because of our maashra [society] being judgemental (I admit I was one of them at some point)," she said, after which she addressed Hussain. "But my love, by (sharing this post) you have made me feel loved and appreciated. Love you for always giving me the confidence.

"Shout out to all the ladies who went through a major surgery to bring their child safely into this world," continued Aziz. She went on to direct the reader's attention to her husband's post in case the reader is a mother who's had a C-section.

In Pakistan, there is strong prejudice against Caesarean sections. They are often considered as 'easy births', a prejudice which translates into judgement against the mother who has them. Mothers who've had Caesarean deliveries are often looked down upon and we're glad Aziz, and Hussain, brought up this oft ignored societal issue to light by bravely sharing her own experience.

Aziz and Hussain became parents to little Kabir Hussain in 2021. Aziz often shares about her experiences as a new mother on social media. In November, she posted a vlog showing a day in her life as a new mother, highlighting the struggles and joys motherhood brought to her life.

“Sometimes things get way too difficult, it’s tiring and upsetting and this is motherhood.” The actor said in the vlog, alluding to moments when everything crashes down and you need to find your way up. “There are emotions and lots of other things but it’s most certainly not easy,” said a teary eyed Aziz, who then assured herself that she will be “alright in a short while.”

It's brave of Iqra to share her childbirth experience with public. I hope it helps to remove stigma against mothers who opt for C-Section

All major hospitals are responsible for turning normal deliveries into C-section for their greed as C-section costs twice the amount of a normal delivery. Recently one of my family members had to go through this ordeal despite assurances from a renowned hospital owned by a foundation. She had to go under the knife at the eleventh hour after spending more than 24 hours in the hospital

C-section is nothing but today's world medical science way of money making dilemma. Doctors are generally paid quite a bit more for a C-section than for a vaginal birth. Every day, roughly 10,000 babies are born in the United States, and about a third of them are born via Cesarean section. This share has gone up significantly over time, and many in the scientific community believe that it’s higher than is necessary.

Every expecting mother can try to avoid a C-section with efforts like exercises, diet etc.

I have two kids and they both came to this world through C- section . It does not matter how they came to this world , the thing that matters is how we raise them , how correctly and how nicely.

@Arshad, Patients have no say in C-section , therefore we don't care its normal delivery or C-section , its just my child, that's it .

A child brought into this world via c section is not born but ripped out of the mother's womb. Being born is via natural birth. This is merely for the doctors making extra money.

@Arshad you yourself are saying that it was more than 24 hour that baby was not delivered then they proceeded for c section. So you would have preferred to have a mentally challened kid in your family then have a happy healthy family. My point is C SECTION has its indication leqve it to docotors.

The question is not C section. The question is women choosing it themselves rather than due to medical issues. Anyways a couple should have the choice and the husband should respect the decision of his partner.

@Arshad You are right to certain extent but actually sometimes c section is needed, I was also having this in mind that no c section and wont let doctor do it. But it was time for my wife. due to water bag rupture the baby was going into stress as the floating medium was gone, so they had to go for c section. otherwise consequences would have been different..

@Arshad There is a lot wrong what you are saying. C-section indications are elective or emergent. If the normal delivery known as SVD is not proceeding as should, then indication for emergent c-section is there to save the baby. I think you should refrain from your comment since it indicates ignorance. If she spent 24 hours and could not deliver, then would you not do a c-section to save the baby? The mother cannot push at all it means possibly maternal arrest via exhaustion so extract the fetus manually? Have you studied ob/gyn, maternal fetal medicine, or neonatology. It looks like you need to study those fields, otherwise leave it to the experts; that hospital owned by a foundation has more experts than you can imagine to do what they do. Then there is this thing there are greedy ob/gyns and hospitals but if 24 hours passed and your wife could not deliver, do not blame the doctor and the hospital. Go ask the best in the field outside that hospital or its neighboring institution.

Child birth involves a huge push against the existing forces, to get delivered. If those forces are replicated against a ball of average 5 Pounds weight in air, it has been estimated that, it would fall to a distance about 300 ft away. If that kind of delivery force is not naturally available, the only solution remains is C-Section, to avoid a death of either one, or both.
