Bollywood's iconic playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, who was admitted to a hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus on Saturday, is in stable condition but will remain under observation for the next 10 to 12 days.

The 92-year-old singer was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital on January 8 after she tested positive for Covid-19. Alongside Covid-19, Mangeshkar is also reportedly suffering from pneumonia.

According to ANI, the doctor who is currently treating Mangeshkar said she will remain under observation for the next 10 to 12 days. "Singer Lata Mangeshkar continues to be in the ICU ward. She will be under observation for 10 to 12 days. Along with Covid-19, she is also suffering from pneumonia," said Dr Pratit Samdhani.

According to Times of India, Mangheskar's younger sister Usha said, "She is doing much better now. Corona ka koi asar nahi hai uspe [The coronavirus has had no impact on her]. She has little bit of pneumonia [and] congestion, which I feel should get cleared today. She is fine now and within one or two days she should get discharged.”

Mangeshkar's sister thanked fans and well-wishers for their prayers as well.

Previously, her niece Rachna Shah had said the singer has mild symptoms. “She is doing fine. [She] has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep didi in your prayers,” she said.
