Money Heist’s Berlin to get his own show in 2023
Ciao Berlin, it’s been a while. There is some good news for fans who have been mourning Money Heist ending too soon — it isn't ending after all. With part two of the season finale releasing this Friday (December 3), the creators of show have announced a spin-off that will feature Berlin as the lead character in 2023.
The spinoff of the hit Spanish series that is also known as La Casa de Papel will focus mainly on Berlin and his life apart from the nine other robbers, Tokyo, Nairobi, Moscow, Rio, Denver, Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo and Manila, according to Variety. Although many of the gang have had a tragic end throughout the series, we hope that the show’s creators will make a dedicated series for each character in the coming years.
The cruel, sadistic, violent and controversial character of Berlin aka Andrés de Fonollosa (played by Pedro Alonso) is not only the man who coined ‘Bella Ciao’ in the show, but also one of the masterminds behind all of the heists seen so far. Shout out to Alonso for winning our hearts with his exceptional performance!
Though it’s still unclear what direction the show will be heading in, one thing that is confirmed is that this not the end for Heist fans. We hope that the spin-off shows more of how Berlin played his part in the robberies and what makes him an ambiguous jewel thief as well as his illness.
In further Money Heist related news, Entertainment Weekly reported that Park Hae Soo of Squid Game has been casted as Berlin for the Korean adaptation of the Spanish show.
The Korean version is slated for a 2022 release with more cast members to be announced very soon on the official account.
