Fashion has no borders: Deepika Padukone wears sari by Pakistani designer Faraz Manan
Faraz Manan has become somewhat of a favourite amongst some of Bollywood biggest stars as he’s become one of their go to choices — be it for an ad, a lawn campaign or a fashion shoot.
Actor Deepika Padukone shared stories of herself wearing an elegant ivory sari designed by Faraz Manan. Currently unavailable on his site, it is a heavily embellished number. She paired it with a dark eye and nude lip, gorgeous emerald earrings and a sleek bun. Manan posted a close up of the look on his Instagram as well.
The photo received a lot of love as people showered Padukone with praise. It’s no secret that we love a cross border collaboration. No matter how much hate there may be, no matter the constant rivalry, nothing makes us all happier than to witness instances where it dissolves.
Manan, one of Asia's leading bridal designers, is a Pakistani couturier and his designs are known for their attention to detail and sense of aesthetic. Though he’s majorly known for his bridal line, his creations are versatile and he creates ready to wear couture and lawn as well.
He has also dressed other B-town celebrities in the past. Actor Kareena Kapoor has been featured frequently in his designs. In fact, some go as far as to say she’s his perfect bridal muse.
Kapoor’s first shoot after having a baby was for Manan’s bridal wear.
She’s also modelled for his lawn line, Crescent lawn. As we know, lawn is a staple for Pakistani summers so you can imagine the reception this elicited, especially from Kareena Kapoor fans.
Kapoor isn’t the only one enamoured by Manan’s expertise — the king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan was also spotted wearing one of Manan’s designs in an adorable Cadbury ad he did in October. The ad was Diwali centred so the embroidered jacket over a plain kurta shalwar looked gorgeous and was absolutely perfect for the occasion.
We love seeing local designers flourish and dress some of the biggest stars in the region. Cross border collaboration is another plus!
Only recently Manish Malhotra, another Indian designer, used an instrumental version of Pakistani drama Parizaad’s OST for his latest clothing campaign. This too was well received by fans who were proud to see the drama go beyond borders.
