The IPPA Awards — a night of glamour, recognition and some clothing controversy

It was a night to remember for the stars who won big but the event overall wasn't exactly smooth sailing.
01 Nov, 2021

The International Pakistan Prestige Awards (IPPA) were held In Turkey Sunday night and attended by some of the biggest names in Pakistan's entertainment and fashion industries. We saw A-Listers strut their stuff on the red carpet, and while their fashion choices were definitely not up our alley, it was nice to see celebrities excited about the awards they won by the end of the night.

The IPPA Awards sought to recognise talent within the Pakistani fashion and entertainment industries, much like the Lux Style Awards and the Hum Style Awards did earlier this year.

Some celebrity red carpet looks

Actor Aiman Khan wore a black sari by designer Hussain Rehar.

Model Mushk Kaleem was also seen in a black number by Dalvi.

Feroze Khan and Farhan Saeed chose to keep it casual on the red carpet.

Some celebrities who emerged winners

Actor Osman Khalid Butt won the Best Actor (Male) in Film award.

Ahsan Khan won Best TV Presenter of the Year.

Zara Noor Abbas won the Best Supporting Actor in Film award.

One performance we wish hadn't happened

Singer Abrar ul Haq performed his latest song 'Begum Shak karti Hai' at the show and we're not exactly sure why, given how the song received a ton of criticism on social media and for good reason. Our sympathies lie with the audience who had to sit through the performance because we sure wouldn't have been able to.

The dress controversy that's got everyone talking

The IPPA Awards became a topic of controversy on social media as well. Model Fatima Hasan — who was a host of the red carpet — said the organisers informed her that her dress wasn't appropriate only after she arrived at the venue. She shared the news with her followers on Instagram and said she wished the organisers had told her sooner. She later used someone's sweater to cover up but it was a makeshift solution.

And there you have it folks, the highs and lows of another Pakistani award show we've lived through in 2021.

Why should our artists go abroad and ridicule our own decent dress codes?

What was Fatima Hasan whining for? Didn't she know what's decent in public and what's not!

@ENGR Hamid shafiq , these are awards held for international recognition and promotion of national content just like IIFA awards of India. It is the reason they're held outside the country. No need to be ashamed. Chill.

So model Fatima Hasan needs to be told what is acceptable to wear whilst she is hosting the event to the nation. If Hum tv hadn't objected, she would have been fine showing the amount of skin she was.
