The wait is over! Singer Atif Aslam has released his much anticipated music video for 'Ajnabi' featuring actor Mahira Khan.

The MV premiered on YouTube on September 25, showing Aslam and Khan as two lovelorn strangers.

Aslam took to social media to announce the release and thank a few of those involved in the project. "My brand new single is out now!" he wrote on Instagram. "Thank you for your love. You are a star Mahira Khan. Brilliantly executed by Asim Raza. Amazing sound design by Ahsan Pervaiz Mehdi."

Khan posted about the music video release as well. "At one point during this shoot me and Atif were sitting on top of a roof, and suddenly we both looked at each other and smiled," she wrote on Instagram. "10 years ago that’s how I started my career with Bol, sitting with Atif singing 'Hona tha Pyaar'."

We'll have to agree with Khan. 'Ajnabi' definitely feels like a throwback to the time she and Aslam co-starred in the movie Bol.

Fans are all praise for the song's electro-pop vibe, a style of music that Aslam doesn't often experiment with. "He never fails to amaze his fans with something new and different," a comment read on YouTube.

"How in the world can one person pull off every genre of music and that too successfully for years?" a user asked rhetorically.

"There are no other artists who can switch between different effortlessly," another user commented. "He keeps things new with his music and focuses on quality rather than quantity."

So far, the MV has racked up an impressive 193,000 views on YouTube since its release. What are your thoughts on the song?

He has had better songs, Atif sings well the song did not serve his talent as it sounded too techno/rap and repeat theme. Lets see if others songs and the show is better. Mahira remains tops no need to look at Angelina Jollie; we have Mahira's lips and Sajal's big sleepy eyes

Very airy with a soothing melancholy. Beautiful direction, managed to create intense atmosphere in shades of blues. Master piece, loved it!

Not Much.Good for younger generation. For folks of my era, melody is missing and visuals are meaningless. But then, they made it so there must be market for this music.

Is a good track, only 3 mins too short for the genre... Generally they would have lots of repetition and lengthen the track with loops of melody repeating for the audience to savour... This would qualify for the deep house if it met the length standard s. Right now is generic indie...

Average performance by an outstanding singer and composer. At times, lyrics were extremely hard to understand. The song contained very few lyrics with lot of repetition.
