Revisiting five of Princess Diana's iconic looks on her 60th birthday

She was famous for her fashion throughout her life as a princess, celebrity and philanthropist.

July 1 marked what would have been Princess Diana's 60th birthday and in celebration of the legacy the people's princess left behind, we're remembering her iconic fashion and picking out some of our absolute favourites.

The princess was known for her impeccable taste in fashion ever since she became a member of the British royal family. Many of the outfits she wore on official state trips, charity events and concerts are considered timeless statement pieces that can look just as good in 2021 as they did back in the 80s and 90s.

Here are our top five outfit picks:

It would be a travesty to overlook the outfits Diana wore during her visits to Pakistan during the 90s. She paired this dress with a delicate scarf during her visit to the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore in 1991

This regal ensemble that would make for a heavenly wedding staple

Designer: Rizwan Beyg

It took Pakistani designer Rizwan Beyg a month to design this exclusively for Diana, which she wore at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital fundraising dinner in 1991.

She was a great lady, but why no photograph in designer clothes with Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry? And why the special honour for Imran Khan?

3 out of 5 of Princess Diana's iconic looks were in shalwar kameez? The title of this article is very misleading about the contents of the article. Diana's most iconic looks were when she was working on the aids campaign in Africa, and then when she wore the landmine outfit in Angola. The looks conveyed her passion for human beings, impeccable taste for representing important issues, and beauty with which she persevered. This article does not do justice to the great lady.

@Khaled Even I wonder why he receives special coverage. I was expecting Dawn would showcase the many ensembles Diana wore on her tours all over the world.

@Naz So what difference would it have made? She came on a private visit on a personal invitation to raise funds for a hospital. She was a great philanthropist and and toured the remotest areas around the globe for some noble cause.
