Amitabh Bachchan doesn't want people to be lax as Covid numbers improve

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan wants to make sure people don't take Covid lightly. He took to Twitter to issue a warning to his fans in light of the ongoing Covid crisis in India.

He warned them against disregarding the Covid protocols even though parts of India have begun to see a decline in cases.

"Even though conditions on Covid, in some locations maybe seeing a decline, please do not be lax," warned Bachchan, adding that people still need to observe protocols.

"Wash hands, wear masks, keep the distance, control travel to the very essentials, follow the time limits and get vaccinated," he urged.

He posted a similar tweet a couple of days earlier as well.

Indian states have begun easing lockdowns as Covid condition in the country improves.

According to Our World in Data, a scientific online publication running out of the University of Oxford, India has seen a sharp decline in Covid cases reported per day since hitting a May 8 peak, when the seven-day average stood at 391,232. Today, the average stands at 123,206 cases. The number of reported Covid-related deaths has fallen too — after peaking on May 23, when the seven-day-average stood at 4,190, the average now stands at 2,632.

India has also now reported less than 100,000 cases per day for three days straight, according to its government. Daily recoveries have now outnumbered daily reported cases for 28 days straight, with the recovery rate climbing up to 94.77%.

The country has also now vaccinated 240 million of its 1.36 billion populace.

We're glad to see India is recovering from its deadly crisis but like Bachchan said, we can't become lax. There is still a long way to go and a lot of progress can be lost if we stop following SOPs.

Never play with the nature. First, India was blaming China for the virus, now it is India in the same position about Indian Virus.

@M. Saeed are you really unaware that it’s a mutation of the virus which originated in China?
