It doesn't matter if you're working on a set or at an office, workplace harassment is a plague that seems to be infecting Pakistan and the latest celebrity to open up about the issue is Churails star Mehar Bano, who fondly remembers being rescued by Saba Qamar.

In an interview with Something Haute, Mehar Bano opened up about how the Baaghi actor came to her rescue after she was harassed by someone on set at a very young age.

"Saba Qamar came to my rescue. I was harassed by a mic wala on set. You can get harassed at any time by any one when especially when you don't know what's going on and you're just a child. As I was young at the time, I was really confused," she said.

"I told her and she went on set and had him kicked out," the Churails star added, saying it was one of the first experiences of someone having taken such a "strong stand" for her. She stressed on the importance of being aware of such issues and knowing what to do.

Mehar Bano then added how the incident made her realise just how common harassment is in our society and the reason why it's important to know about it.

"It made me realise I should be aware now of what happens to me or other girls, so I can also stand up for them," she said.

While it's horrible that Mehar Bano had to face that, the incident highlighted a perfect example of heartwarming and strong female friendships. We're glad that she had Qamar watching her back.

Harassment is a universal curse and speaks about the still left behind symptoms of the stone age, when women were kept by their men like animals, in chains.

@M. Saeed Not all men treat or treated woman like animals. You can't blame half the population for the action of a tiny minority. Such people exist in every society without the difference of gender, color, cast, etc. A good example of this is that recently a female teacher at LGS was caught harassing two young boys so using the word harasser is better than Men!!!

@JM but our language is not Urdu. Urdu is a foreign language, originating in Indian states of UP and Bihar. Our languages are Punjabi, Baluchi, Sindhi and Pashto

This’ me too’ is an easiest way to accuse others in the name of harassment, you don’t need a proof, mostly a cheap publicity, which was evident in Misha Shafi case..

@JM "Please speak Urdu." Speaking Urdu is one thing but learning to write the Urdu script or even reading hand-written Urdu is a totally diff ball game. Hindi (Devanagari script used in many Indian languages as well) and English are a lot simpler, more scientific and easier to learn.

This lady’s surname is Bano. I wonder if her parents know the meaning of Bano in Persian. FYI Bano means lady/woman in Persian. This is hilarious, she speaks English with a horrible accent and has no clue what her name means.

Very ironic whenever there is a discussion on harrassment pakistanis instantly start commenting its a universal issue and go up in defense. Yeah its a universal issue but sorry face the reality in pakistan harassment is as normal and desired by men as inhaling oxgen. They can starve for days but wont stop harassing women. And if by chance poor girl appears badchalan to them for whatever reasons then think its their religious duty to stalk, harass , mentally torture her. Its universal issue but in pakistan harassment is an entire massive universe of its own. Face the truth will help you.

Parents need to teach their children at a young age to respect women, all women. It's the parents fault for raising kids like barn animals. Teach them civics, manners, discipline, respect, cleanliness, sharing, being unselfish etc at 3 or 4 year old. Our society does not know these things except a few educated families.

@Shamain many, many, women ‘flirt’ with men; if the man ‘responds’ they now play ‘hard to get’, snd eventually ‘# MeToo. Put on burqa’s, and dont flirt. But when ‘some’ of them get ahead by flirting, many others follow. Human nature - greed, ego, fear, and FOMO.

If Girls in our society think that if they wore such inappropriate clothes while not getting harrased then these girls are responsible for that. As far as the harrasment is concerned, the person responsible should be punished but please our actresses spread NUDITY all over the internet and no one can question them, why ??
