Stop calling me plastic: Mathira stands up to people body-shaming her

If I do surgeries, I will certainly own up to it. I have put on weight, she said.
22 Mar, 2021

After an honest conversation on equal rights, friendships and struggles in the industry on Tabish Hashmi's To Be Honest, Mathira has become the victim of body-shamers.

Taking to social media, she asked the public to stop shaming her for what seems like the liberal use of Instagram filters and putting on weight.

"I'm chubby and I'm happy like this. Who are you to shame me? Focus on yourself please," she posted on Instagram, following stories of herself on set.

She then added that she was done with the public constantly asking questions about her body and shaming her for the way she looked.

"I'm so tired of people saying why I have done implants and all... Seriously it's a shame. I have hormonal imbalances issue. Stop it."

The host then said if she were ever to get a surgery, she wouldn't deny it.

"If I get surgeries, I will certainly own up to it. I have put on weight. Please stop this nonsense of calling me plastic," she added.

Surgeries or no surgeries, overweight or underweight — here is a friendly reminder that women's bodies are not meant for you to comment on. Whether Mathira has had 40 surgeries or none at all, her appearance is none of our business.

She used his body to be famous and be viewed and be talked only because of body. What if now people get her body to that way. Showbiz is always been showing off your body. It's conceivable.

Feel proud, walk tall, no need to pay attention to or worry about the negative comments. You are not even obliged to justify or explain for things you do. You did what suited you or was best for you and no one has any right to question. You are a beautiful, confident, bold and good artist and we love and respect you for that. Remain like that and have fun. No need to be apologetic.

I liked the line....her appearance is non of our business. But a serious question, if she has only item numbers in her cv then ....her appearance is everyone's business, isn't it?

What is the issue? At the end of the day, dipping into the attack well of body-shaming, racism, misogyny, and ableism is just lazy. When people resort to these kinds of tactics, I simply think that they have lost the ability to debate the merits and content of a position. Instead, they want to play to the bot-fueled, troll-fed, worst of who humans can be.

What else will you call someone full of botox, silicone and addicted to plastic surgery - to totall ruin natural beauty that she was born with?? Mahira, your insecurity with constant modifications, reshaping and injected artificial stuff made with plastic, has made you hideous to the point that you and you wallet (full of credit cards) have now a lot in common!

No one has the right to judge anybody else but in this particular case there is a simple solution; besides educating the masses please stop posting your photos on the social media! When some one posts his or her photos on the social media, what exactly are the trying to accomplish ? If you want to be a public figure/celebrity then sadly there are unintended out comes. Its sad but that's the reality! Can't have your cake and eat it too. Sorry .

What is this new fad about body shaming ? If she looks ugly, She will be called out. Those who live by the sword shall die by it. Isn't her whole USP is looking pretty. She displays her pictures after photo shopping them to portray a attaractive and perfect body. Now she has the audacity to blame the viewers who still want to see the same desirable body.

Not to sound mean or too brash, but perhaps her quest to look ''prettier'' and reliance on Plastic surgerie to enhance her curves to make her ''more desirable'' may have contributed to her break up. He ex probably got tired of too much plastic in her body which ruined her true natural beauty!! Desis trying to become ''European'' is rather a mental illness and sign of insecurity.
