It's official: Esra Bilgiç is part of the Peshawar Zalmi 'kingdom'

After hinting for weeks, the team revealed the Turkish leading lady as an ambassador a day ahead of PSL.
Updated 19 Feb, 2021

After all the hints and mystery, Peshawar Zalmi has finally — and officially — welcomed Turkish actor Esra Bilgiç into its fold.

"We welcome Esra Bilgic into our #ZKingdom," the team wrote on its Twitter account with a picture of the star in Zalmi gear.

"Brace yourself Yellow storm, a kingdom is about to be revealed tonight," the tweet added, ending on a suspenseful note.

The suspense, however, didn't last long as team owner Javed Afridi revealed that the Zalmi anthem would be released tonight.

Afridi had been teasing PSL fans for weeks by dropping hints of a collaboration with Bilgiç, who starred in the massively popular Dirilis: Ertugrul.

Earlier this week, actors Hania Aamir and Ali Rehman were announced as brand ambassadors as well as longtime Zalmi associate Mahira Khan, which led fans to ask: where's Esra Bilgiç?

Last month, the Turkish star made headlines in Pakistan when she posted a picture of Islamia College Peshawar on her Instagram story and later posted a tweet identical to Afridi's. Both said "new beginnings".

Sources had confirmed to Images that talks with Bilgiç were under way and a final outcome was expected in a few days.

Fans, we're sure, are very happy with this outcome!

What does she have to do with Cricket, Pakistan, and Peshawar Zalmi? Nothing. This is how our country ignores local talent and chase people in other parts of the world. Why not promote Ali Sajid Sadpara!

What value do they bring to the empty stadiums? I think it's a good PR stunt but only if situation returns to normal, post Covid19 lockdowns. Perhaps they will just go around stadiums by fencing and people will be able to see them for real.

Despite all the negativity I'm looking at it in a positive way. Her involvement in PSL could provide PSL TV audience in Turkey and eventually a possibility of trade deals in Turkey. Welcome to PSL Esra!
