In our time actors were used to discipline and punctuality, says Bushra Ansari

"Every profession demands commitment, a certain professional attitude which helps your work grow."
Updated 17 Nov, 2020

Having been a vital part of the entertainment industry, veteran actor and comedian Bushra Ansari is known for her wide array for work. She has also received the Presidential Pride of Performance award for her valuable contribution to Pakistan's entertainment industry.

Recently, the Aangan Terha actor took to social media to share her thoughts on actors of today and those from earlier years.

A photo posted by Instagram (@instagram) on

"I’ve been asked the difference between actors in the past and actors today," Ansari began. "The thing is that overtime, everything becomes different. No one can say designers were great before and they’re not as good anymore — because each time has a different demand."

"Attitudes change, environments change — even a change in the economic situation plays a huge role as we can see today. Traditions change and relationships evolve, so we can’t point out a specific difference."

However, the Udaari actor did use the opportunity to point out one thing that she believed was given priority during "her time", in a very subtle manner of course.

"Despite all that, every profession demands commitment, a certain professional attitude which helps your work grow," she continued. "It is true that in our time, we were used to a certain kind of discipline and punctuality."

Guess that's her mantra to success.

Late Moment Akhtar, Awar Maqsood and Bushra Ansary are the best actors i rember from PTVs good days. Not to forget the great Tariq Aziz.

In your times even the audience was punctual. At 8:00pm the streets were nearly empty and everyone was glued to their TVs.

Great actor, Bushra continues to make positive contribution to the acting profession. Her comments are spot on as time changes everything and we too need to adapt to changes. Keep well.

@Farid Well said, Drama, TV, Pictures, Videos had some values. Now with these things all the time on Internet, Mobiles, I think they lost the value in people's lives (i.e they are not special anymore). 13 episodes Drama, if you can watch it on time otherwise its gone.

Remember senior producers in PTV playing cards and deciding fate of actors on the game.

In your time older generation used to give blessings to you. What do you give to your children? Constant unhappiness of parents causes stress and people can't get up on time to get to work on time. If we make a to do list and a relationship list and put on that list making tea for parents or in laws they will still not be happy. Pakistani elders are never happy because they have to do lists but not relationship lists. Like I need to drop kids to school is on the list, but on the way to school I need to build good relationship with kids is not on the list. Maybe Bushra Ansari has a to do list but not a relationship list so she feels frustrated with new generations. Whereas new generation works harder on relationships and less on tasks.

@Saif Zulfiqar and therefore plays & shows from that time are the best & can not be compared by new plays. Tariq Azizś Neelam Ghar, then Gap Shap, Fifty Fifty,Loose Talk show - nowadays none of the tv hosts has IQ and expression culture of Tariq Aziz, Moin Akhtar,Anwar Maqsud,Shoib , and Bushra Ansari. Current TV hosts can not even pronounce words in correct urdu and have no grip on poetry from classics. Dramas have also lost depth. No depth and no hardwork in roles. Who can compete Roohi Bano,Khalida Riasat,Bushra Ansari,Talat Siddiqui,Samina Ahmed,Samina peerzada,Rahat Kazmi,Salman Pirzada, and many others like Abid Ali etc. Actors & hosts do nt work on self improvement for expression with cultured touch in language, vocabulary as well as in doing character from the heart. Our past actors acted and spoke from heart & feelings plus with full grip on language. They are unbeatable by this superficial mob of today pakistan.
