Only a fool doesn't talk about everything with his wife, says Imran Khan

"She is my soulmate. She is my companion. I would not have survived without her," shared the PM in his latest interview.

Years of subjugation, relentless dismissal and discrediting at the hands of men, it is no surprise that women in Pakistan face harsh criticism when voicing their opinions or demanding a seat at the table as an equal significant other.

However, while majority of men continue to believe their wives have nothing constructive to offer in terms of advice, Prime Minister Imran Khan thinks otherwise.

In an interview conducted by journalist Susanne Koelbl for German Spiegel International, Khan credited his survival in politics and delving solutions for difficult situations, courtesy of the first lady Bushra Bibi.

When asked if he consults the well-known faith healer's advice on political issues, his response was affirmative.

"Only a fool doesn’t talk about everything with his wife," said Khan.

"She has great wisdom. I discuss everything with her, also problems I face in government, dealing with complex situations. She is my soulmate. She is my companion. I would not have survived without her."

Following, in his interview, the PM further addressed important issues such as his country's role in global politics, his admiration for the Chinese leadership and how Pakistan's situation could potentially be improved.

Giving his own example, Khan spoke about the law prohibiting criticism of the military and if it was the end of freedom of speech in the country.

"Pakistan has more freedom of speech than almost any Western country. And I use the word freedom very carefully, after having spent almost two decades of my life in England, where they have very strong laws on slander," he narrated.

Adding an example of his own defamation case against an English cricketer star that he won, he shared that slander laws are very strong abroad, with a lack thereof of in Pakistan.

"I have been wrongly slandered as prime minister, here and gone to court, but even as prime minister, I haven't been able to get justice," he said.

Khan also addressed the issue of censorship, claiming that "as long as criticism is based on truths and facts, it would be accepted."

As the topic drifted towards one-party rule, the Prime Minister did not shy away from praising China as an economic example for Pakistan.

"I admire China because they have taken 700 million people out of poverty within the short period of 40 years. This is the model I want to emulate in Pakistan," the Prime Minister declared.

"Despite not having electoral politics, they are good at bringing the best people to the top in their country. It’s a system based on meritocracy. I've seen how the Communist Party sort of sifts through all the talent and bring it to the top. Furthermore, in the past seven years, China has put 450 ministerial level officials in jail on corruption charges."

The former cricket champion said he drew an insightful conclusion from it: "Countries aren't poor because of a lack of resources. It's because of corruption among the leadership."

"Countries aren't poor because of a lack of resources. It's because of corruption among the leadership." Not because of corruption, its purely because of wrong priorities and no normal educating schools.

Real honest man who never shies away from speaking the truth and his mind. Pakistanis need to appreciate him and the fact that first time in its history they have an honest PM who genuinely care about the welfare of the people. Yes there are issues that need to be addressed but the tide is turning and it takes time, effort and patience for things to get better.

You don’t talk about state secrets with your wife. Any army officer will tell you that. So I don’t believe him.

If he mean to say that tell everything related to oneself to his wife then he's right but otherwise he is wrong because matters related to organization and Country secrets or official matters are not to be told to irrelevant and/ or unconcerned persons.

"Countries aren't poor because of a lack of resources. It's because of corruption among the leadership." Pakistanis hardly understand they themselves are so corrupt from Karachi to Kashmir, Molvi to Liberals, Judges to Generals, Journalist to Lawyers, Doctors, and engineers; the corruption is so imbibed in the society it needs a major surgery the sham democracy is not the medicine rather the source of evil

@Shashi; corruption! because the country loses it's life line, the monetary resources, due to corruption. As a result your talent is washed out because there aren't enough resources to compensate their efforts, and whoever is left behind is compelled to, either accept the situation or wait for the doom's day. Bribery, nepotism, favoritism, no merit policy are all varied forms of corruption.

Pm khan is a good leader but infact the whole structure of pakistan econmy is nearly to distroy reason is unequal distribution of wealth Dishonesty of people in pak we observe each person wants a short way of earning mony instead of few The other reason is do not want to work especualy the gov officials do not like tl perform their duties honest way 3rd the youg genration is not sincare with their parents They waste their time at bacebook tv dramas and other activities Even pak does not have ecnnomic activity for them so that where they spend their time we need to promote industrial area instead of only infra strucre Pm khan s interview is a good interview

It is good to know that PM Imran Khan often consult with his wife. Men are generally under pressure from so many internal and external issues and it is only the wife who is also a life partner can only give sincere and humble advice, keeping in view of the nature of her husband. There are number of people who keep most of the matters secret from their wives, more particularly, the income and expenses as mostly wives becomes very demanding when they come to know that husbands are doing good business. But if we talk about sincere, honest and dedicated wives they protect each and every penny of hard earned money of their hard working and sincere husbands who look after their families and attend to family problems. I don't have words to thanks to my own wife who have devoted her entire life in educating and upbringing the children and making them civilized persons in the society. I can't repay to my wife as she was 100% honest with me in every respect and she was one out of billions.
