After six sensational seasons of the unfiltered truth, Patriot Act on Netflix has abruptly come to an end.

Host Hassan Minhaj took to Twitter to bid goodbye to fans on Tuesday morning.

"What a run. Patriot Act has come to an end," he announced. "I got to work with the best writers, producers, researchers, and animators in the game. My 2 babies were born and grew up with the show. Thank you to Netflix and everyone who watched. Now it’s time to return these screens to Best Buy."

The tweet was met with surprise, sadness and anger from audiences who not only considered the show relevant due to its social commentary, but also found its representation of an Indian-Muslim host born to immigrant parents, crucial and necessary.

Mourning the loss, a petition has already been made and garnered over 6500 signatures from fans, to bring back the show.

Patriot Act premiered in 2018, the year after Minhaj gave a keynote speech at the White House Correspondents Association dinner which was met with praise for his performance.

Having won a Peabody Award and an Emmy for Outstanding Motion Design, its existing 39 episodes will be available to stream on Netflix.
