The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking a ban on exhibition of Ehd-e-Wafa, a television drama produced by ISPR.

Justice Shahid Waheed observed that the petition was not maintainable and directed the petitioner to first approach the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra).

Responding to the judge’s queries, Muhammad Zeeshan, the petitioner, said his feelings were hurt when he watched the drama showing all pillars of the state except the judiciary.

Moreover, he said the drama glorified the role of army only and negatively portrayed politicians and media persons which, he claimed, was an attempt to tarnish their image.

He further said the roles being portrayed in the drama painted a negative image of Pakistan internationally.

He urged the court to stop broadcasting of remaining episodes of the drama and also take action against the television channel.

Funny petition against Kala Jadu dramas and dramas portraying social injustice, fashion parade. Where is freedom of speech. Are petitions restricted only to such entertainment; Ehd e Wafa, Bol, Khuda K Liay, or Zindagi Tamasha….What a nation we are...

There is nothing wrong in this drama. Everything portrait here is real. The politicians are a mess, so is the media. There is no hard and fast rule that the Judiciary must be shown when portraying other government bodies. Please let the drama continue to air.

Even though his claim is true, yet seeking a ban is childish. It's the same as Mullahs seeking a ban on anything they dislike
