Pakistan emerged victorious from a close contest against India in the final of the Kabaddi World Cup on Sunday in Lahore's Punjab Stadium.

The hosts won 43-41 to become kabaddi world champions for the first time and bring the trophy home.

Congratulatory messages started coming in as fans took to Twitter to express their pride for the sheer determination and ferociousness the team displayed on national television.

Some are, well, at a loss of words...

While others are taking clever digs at internal politics. Where is the lie though?

Malka-e-Bartania is confident Pakistan is prepared to conquer all future wins courtesy of Mr. Khan

But Indian professors are of course, still in disbelief...

In other news, we suggest Chacha Lame Monk changes his name to Chacha Sour Monk because clearly he’s having some trouble digesting defeat.

We extend our heartiest congratulations to the team!

Congrats Pakistan. As an Indian, I find it too disgraceful to disown the Indian team.

It was not the official Indian team. Some people formed a team and went from India. They did not even represent India.

@Indian it’s just a sports buddy , not sure why South Asians makes everything a national pride . If we beat each other with our good conduct and peaceful governess than we should be proud of it. The others would be compelled to follow the suit .

Credit should go to biased referee, btw, this was not Indias national team rather a club/state level team and still almost won the match. It shows the difference in sports standard between these 2 neighbors

@Ibrahim S A "national team" is different from a group of people from a region; get the difference.

My message is chill win or loose the competition was played in good sporting spirit.wonderful to see. I enjoyed the punjabi commentary, well done to Indian team for visiting Pakistan and for the kind messages you gave. If your country does not own you that is a shame, becuase I would be proud of your performance and above your sporting behaviour!
