Laal Kabootar has been selected to be submitted for Oscar consideration in the 'International Feature Film Award’ category for the 92nd Academy Awards.

Laal Kabootar is a rollercoaster ride featuring Ahmed Ali Akbar as Adeel Nawaz - a hustling taxi-driver and Aliya Malik, played by the alluring Mansha Pasha, is strong-headed to the point of being stubborn.

The film was well-received by critics for its plot and bringing Karachi to life. The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee is chaired by two-time Academy Award winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and includes Zeba Bakhtiar, Zarrar Khuhro, Zebunnisa Hamid, Sarmad Khoosat, Asim Abbasi, Rizwan Beyg, Jamil Baig, Sanam Saeed and Hamna Zubair.

Celebrities are rejoicing over the news and congratulating the cast and crew of the film for a job well done:

Lead actor Mansha Pasha shared the happy news immediately

Mehwish Hayat congratulated her as soon as she found out

Ayesha Omar gave the film a shout out

Shaista Lodhi commended the achievement

Jibran Nasir, too, couldn't resist sharing the good news

Initially the news captured my attention as if a Pakistani movie has won oscars. Later lines proved the joy short-lived.

They are rejoicing because a film was sent by Pakistan to Oscars for consideration like every year? I would hold my joy till it gets to at least the final round or makes the cut.
