In this summer heat we want our clothes to be cool, breezy and loose, right?

Which is probably why shalwars have crept back into our wardrobes. However, we're not talking about the basic white shalwar, or the tulip shalwar that trended hard a couple of years ago (ugh!).

We're talking patterned, printed and heavily embellished shalwars. The trend seems to be to dress up the shalwar variations of a wide embellished border. We have to say we don't hate it.

Need inspiration?

Rock a contrasting paincha like Ayesha Omar

This outfit from Kokab Zia goes from basic black to something better with the addition of a worked shalwar. We like!

Throw everything but the kitchen sink on it like Zara Noor Abbas

A year ago you may have thought that a print + gota would be too much. Not anymore!

Even a basic white shalwar can be upgraded like Iqra Aziz does here

This outfit by Ali Xeeshan is simple but still glam.

If you're not into risk opt for details in the same colour, like the shalwar Feeha Jamshed is wearing here

This Menahel and Mehreen shalwar is subtle because it's all one colour. Try this if you're not fully ready to commit.

Make your shalwar the focus of the outfit like Hina Basir

Wow! This shalwar sports more embellishment than the average evening-wear kurta. Somehow NickieNina make it work.

Good idea. The Shalwar that men and women wear is not really different. These versions look much better.

Ayesha, Iqrai those outfits I like. But most of the looks are not really shalwar. It's more a modern trouser and palazzot inspired. It's nice but it's not shalwar. I kind of miss the old basic shalwar kameez. I know times are changing. I adapt too.
