India's hit Netflix series Sacred Games is coming back with a new season and some new characters.
Netflix India dropped the cast list on Monday with the short video featuring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui reprising their roles as cop Sartaj Singh and gangster Ganesh Gaitonde respectively, and also Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey who will be playing pivotal roles in the film.
According to Indian Express, Kalki will essay a character named Batya and Ranvir will play Shahid Khan.
"Personally, I am a fan of the series, and it is super awesome to be a part of the Sacred Games and Netflix family. Season 2 promises to be much more exciting and I cannot wait for viewers to watch me in the series," said the actress.
Pankaj Tripathi, the Guruji who was introduced in the first season as Gaitonde's 'third father', will also play a more significant role in Season 2.
What we know about the upcoming season's storyline is that Sartaj still has 14 days remaining (of the 25 that Ganesh says he has to save the city).
Anurag Kashyap will continue to direct Nawazuddin’s track and Neeraj Ghaywan (of Masaan fame) will take over from Vikramaditya Motwane to direct Sartaj Singh’s track.
Based on Vikram Chandra’s book of the same name, Sacred Games Season 2 will premiere later this year.
