Modi biopic release postponed indefinitely in India, say media reports

On Monday Supreme Court will hear Congress' petition demanding the movie’s release be deferred until after elections

The planned release of a Bollywood biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi days before the start of Indian elections has run into trouble with a court challenge pending and the censor board yet to clear its opening in theatres.

Opposition parties are protesting that the film’s release would unfairly advantage Modi’s Hindu nationalist party as it seeks reelection.

The Supreme Court set a Monday hearing date for a Congress party petition demanding the movie’s release be deferred until voting concludes in mid-May.

The Hindi movie couldn’t be screened as planned on Friday because the censor board hasn’t certified it for release.

Film producer Sandip Singh tweeted late Thursday:

Good move by congress. Should not release before general election.

I totally disagree. It should have come to cinema halls to know more about Indian Premier irrespective of the election festival.

Have a look at cobra post expose on Bollywood stars, it is very telling. Something the Indian mainstream media ignores. But that is how Bollywood is, apart from few exceptions.

Not to Worry. As the piracy has already there in the market. Congress is nothing to get from it, in fact loose its vote bank. Well done congress at least they can bring Modi more near to the victory spot.
