Project Ghazi delays release to avoid clash with other Pakistani releases

The film was initially releasing on March 22 along with Laal Kabootar and Sherdil
02 Mar, 2019

The Pakistani entertainment industry has often complained about too many films releasing on Eid... so they had three films releasing on March 22 instead.

Project Ghazi, Laal Kabootar and Sherdil all shared the same release date, the assumption being they wanted to benefit from the March 23 holiday.

Such clashes on non-Eid days can be very damaging for Pakistani cinema as instead of having a film getting its own spotlight, too many films clash with each other with long periods in the middle devoid of any Pakistani release.

Looks like the makers of Project Ghazi understood that as the team made the announcement on Friday about postponing their release by a week.

Says the team, "In light of the prevalent situation and in support of Pakistani Cinema we have decided to release Project Ghazi on the 29th of March 2019. We wish Sherdil and Laal Kabootar a successful flight and all the best for the 22nd."

Their move is one to appreciate, it promotes camaraderie within the industry and such moves are important for Pakistan's film industry to truly thrive.

A special request to Pakistanis: please get over Bollywood content and watch local Pakistani movies. Bollywood movies are anyways plagiarized (Gully Boy, 8 Miles?). I would go with my friends and family to see all these three movies in support of our cinema. Personally looking forward to Project Ghazi's release.

very good decision. i wish Load Wedding management would have made the same decision last year .It would have been economically beneficial also for the movie.
