Bollywood is now looking to outer space for inspiration, it appears.
After SRK signs on to play India's first astronaut in Saare Jahan Se Achcha, Akshay Kumar has been cast in a film on India's Mars mission,
Titled Mission Mangal, the film will be directed by Jagan Shakti, who was an assistant director on Akshay's PadMan. It will be produced in collaboration with R Balki.
Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu will also star in the film, which will begin shooting in mid-November. Akshay's exact role in the film has not been disclosed.
Mission Mangal is one of three films that Akshay is headlining as part of a three-film deal with Fox Star Studios.
