Gaming wins in Pakistan as Mountain Dew announces first CS:GO finalist

The first qualifier for Counter Strike was held in Lahore recently

If you had walked into the Portal Gaming Center in Lahore this weekend, you would have seen teams of video gamers huddled over brightly lit PCs, and the room bathed in a neon green glow.

Mountain Dew recently launched the #DewGamersArena, where top gamers from Pakistan are competing against each other in CS:GO and Dota 2 for the title of best gaming team in the country.

With this initiative, Mountain Dew has not only introduced a new platform for gamers, but also started uniting talented gamers across the country.

At the end of the first three-day qualifier, the Portal Esports team came out on top from a group of 31 teams and emerged as the winner for CS:GO.

The captain Zaki Nasir, a.k.a. Killnt, said he’s extremely thankful to Mountain Dew for giving his team this opportunity and “this platform could change the face of gaming in Pakistan”.

Portal Esports will now be competing in the grand finale against the winners of qualifiers from Karachi, Islamabad and the rest of Pakistan.

The next Lahore #DewGamersArena qualifier will be for DOTA.

It's not as big but at least it's a start - e sport is a mega industry with huge scope around the globe... All the best gamers!
