Nabeel Qureshi pleads Pakistan's moviegoers to not record films on their mobile phones

The Load Wedding director says people are uploading film excerpts on social media

Going to the movies is growing as a pastime in Pakistan but some basic cinema etiquettes still elude our audience.

Like, not recording the film on their cellphones, perhaps?

Load Wedding director Nabeel Qureshi tweeted yesterday that people have been recording film excerpts using their mobile phone cameras and then uploading the clips on social media.

People are trying to justify the behaviour as a show of excitement

Or a way to impress their friends

Nabeel insists that such actions are "illegal and unethical" and contribute to film piracy. Whipping out your mobile phone in the cinema for any purpose — making phone calls, texting and particularly recording the film being screened — is a no-no, also because it's distracting for other members of the audience. Here's hoping this doesn't become a trend. .

Trust me no one watches Pakistani movies on bootlegged dvds or online.

It is not convenient to record moves off the screen when they are all available online by various outlets just for free and at high quality recordings.
