Atif Aslam responds to fake news about 'Independence Day concert'

The singer was criticised for performing his Bollywood hits during the Independence Day Parade in New York

Atif Aslam had a concert in New York and he sang his heart out. Who'd a thunk there'd be a problem?

Well, there was. News started circulating that this was no ordinary concert but a Pakistan Independence Day Parade and that the singer decided to sing his Bollywood hits there.

And people were not happy. At. All.

Some pretty crazy rumours had begun:

But some fans and fellow artistes also supported him:

Many who attended the concert also spoke up in Aslam's defense, claiming that the concert had nothing to do with Independence Day and the news circulating is fake.

Atif Aslam himself then took to social media to respond to the rumours and thank his fans and supporters.

Says the singer in his post, "I am very happy and proud that my fans are responding to the fake propaganda in such a good way. I hope that in Naya Pakistan, people respect those who are representing Pakistan all over the world."

Just stop singing Indian songs at Pakistani concerts. Whats so difficult about that. A song is not just a song, it has relevance depending on the occasion. Pakistanis dont like their culture mixed up with foreign Indian culture. Atif Aslam should just clarify whether it was independence day concert or not and address all the accusations. No need for silly comments like ‘ I love my haters.....’

I was at the concert - no one left. Actually the mic stopped working so everytime Atif sang there was static. I commend him for still signing through it and not complaining. It was also very very hot and humid. The arrangements by the organizers were terrible. He sang for an hour and then took a break. No one protested. Atif was great, organkzation and technology was terrible.

Look at the language used by so called Atif's defenders. They have no idea what happened out there, and what exactly to say in the singer's defense. Atif has nothing to say to clear his name. We love Atif's voice. But that love is nothing compared to our love for Pakistan.

I did my research and it is true fact that Atif sang Bollywood songs in Pakistan Independence Parade songs. This is shameful act and cannot be tolerated. He must apologize and donate all money to charity. He cannot behave like this in such a big public event. Imagine if Indian singer sings Pakistani Ghazals in Indian Independence concert ? All Indians will get mad and crazy and probably hit him hard to apologize. I repeat, he must apologize to nation and donate all money to charity. His reply is vague and does not who the true gentleman act.

@Omer Really! he is such an Humble STAR, does not throw his weight around nor does he enter into any controversies. Those Indians love him a lot, I remember once Asha Bhosle saying about his song, only Atif could have sung like that. Although she was for TV's TRP shown as rival

Lets get real - as Pakistanis we watch Indian movies and dance on their songs so even if he did sing a song or two - how different is it from every other day when we watch Indian shows , movies and adore their artists. art has no boundaries and we share a lot with each other in this regard.
