How should you dress in Naya Pakistan?

How should you dress in Naya Pakistan?

Let your style take a U-turn for the better and give yourself a "Naya" look inspired by PTI members
Updated 03 Aug, 2018

With the promise of a Naya Pakistan, we're feeling some "out with the old, in with the new" vibes in the air.

And we all know siyasat and style go hand in hand. If you're a Pakistani politician, your choice of either an ajrak, a blazer, a waistcoat or a three-piece lawn suit says a lot about you. PTI's signature style has always been urban desi (ethnic flavour is optional) but as the party has expanded and grown, their fashion has also evolved over the years.

Let your style take a U-turn for the better and give yourself a "new" look, inspired by PTI members:

If you want to look more traditional: Imran Khan's white shalwar kameez

It may be a Naya Pakistan but you still need a statement, staple look and Imran Khan rocks his white shalwar kameez effortlessly.

His look has inspired many already, just look at Jahangir Tareen and Faisal Javed Khan.

If you want to stay basic: Hamza Ali Abbasi

The vest over shalwar kameez style should be dubbed 'The Hamza Ali Abbasi' and we don't think we can get mad at that. The actor, once culture secretary to PTI (yeah, that happened!) has his basic look say everything about him so he can focus on Twitter full-time.

But hey, that's not to say he doesn't switch it up every now and then; sometimes he wears a shawl. That's right! Accessorise!

If you're too extra to give a damn: Salman Ahmad

Ah SufiSal. The hardcore Imran Khan fan has a style that screams "Naya Pakistan, Naya me" wearing his political opinion on his sleeve...literally.

And the award for the most colour-coordinated fam goes to...

If you want to stand out: Shireen Mazari's hair

Shireen Mazari has her staple wardrobe sorted. She has her shalwar kameez ensembles and many saris. But you know what inspires us to go for a Naya look? Her hair.

Mazari's cropped cut is one we're always looking out for because we're wondering what the next look will be. Purple? Nah, she did that. White? Did that too. Oh, the suspense.

Also, who does her hair? Asking for a friend.

If you want to suit up forever: Shah Mehmood Qureshi

Shah Mehmood Qureshi is our top choice for a Naya dapper look; the man loves his ties!

And he's got some stylish buds too! Legen-Wait for it-Dary!

If you low-key want to look like Maryam Nawaz: take a leaf out of Momina Basit's style guide

Is Momina Basit the fashionista of PTI? Or just really, really inspired by a certain politician?

With her outfit, accessories and eyebrows always done, we think both! Time to get a Naya wardrobe.

If you want to show off your Naya body: Abbas Jafri

Summer's over but who says the beach bod's gotta go? If you've been doing your crunches, flaunt it! Abbas Jafri channels his inner Khal Drogo and maybe you should too.

I mean, who needs clothes when you have that beard right?

If you've got a shadi to attend, like all the time: Aamir Liaquat

Just look at them sherwani collars, that too on occasion paired with an embroidered coat!

The guy's ready for any urgent shaadi event or to do... whatever he's doing in PTI.

If you want to follow trends: Faisal Javed Khan

It may be a Naya Pakistan but old form of flattery still exists with Faisal Javed Khan.

We may have mentioned IK's lasting impression on the PTI member, but it's not enough. In case you were wondering why, have a look yourself.

Funny. The best combo is white shalwar qameez with black shades - the Kaptaan's look.

Whatever Imran wears it becomes trend but does not suit everyone. Simple Shalwar Qameez or formal suit as per situation.

Imran Khan white shalwar kameez and his Peshawri chappal is Simple, decent, and most of all it comes cheap, and you need not to have too many suits as well, it's the best of all.

@Usman You are right, individuals should have freedom to wear whatever they wish. However a distinction should be made in Formal and Casual Wear. My choice for formal wear is Shah Mehmood Qureshi. It sheds populism and blend with the universal formal clothing order Women should wear Shoes unless they have dainty feats
