Nadia Hussain says authentic beauty is more important than 'perfect' beauty standards

The model/salon owner is trying to introduce Cindy Crawford's #WokeUpThisWay challenge to Pakistani Instagram
09 Jul, 2018

Nadia Hussain may be deep in Pakistan's beauty business, but it looks like she's still trying to keep it real.

In a recent Instagram post, Nadia tries to kick-off Cindy Crawford's #WOKEUPTHISWAYchallenge in Pakistan, challenging actors Mahira Khan, Sajal Aly, Ayesha Omar and Mawra Hocane to post a photo of their morning aka 'no make-up' faces, like she has.

Nadia explains that she felt the need to encourage her followers to focus on real beauty rather than 'perfect' beauty standards.

"Social media is a powerful tool where you’re in charge of WHAT/WHEN/WHERE/HOW you want to present yourself to the world. And of course we all want to present perfection - who doesn’t love a good filter?? But why do we think posting our authentic, real self is somehow not [lovable] enough? It’s time to wake up. Your true YOU is [the bomb]," she writes.

While the celebs she challenged are yet to respond, Nadia shares that she got a message of gratitude from a follower who was struggling to come to terms with a change in her appearance since she became a mother:

Nadia's post was also met with a lot of criticism about her no-makeup look, but this fiesty Instagrammer didn't hold back from naming and shaming them:

We hope Nadia's post encourages more women to embrace their true selves.

Not many people care anyway. In most societies, women are unfortunately treated as objects to look at.

You look amazingly gorgeous and beautiful at least you have guts and power to face the world who you really are and those who are not appreciating are themselves with dual faces they can't face the world with there real face above all people must encourage you for your challenge let's see if your challenge is accepted by other models whereas I think they won't because they themselves are scared that there real face if comes in front of the world they will loose charm... Hats off salute stay blessed

well, people's comment are horrible but sorry these models and media industry are themselves responsible for creating such attitudes. First they introduced unrealistic beauty standards following west and now they are trying to bring real look again following the West. My Nani never made such beauty related demands of women, they somehwat spread during my mom's generation and have gotten worse thanks to people like Nadia Hussain who would come on morning shows and talk about botox, and cosmetic facial uplifting and pata nai kia kia bakwas.

Nadia Hussain is looking just fine. Why do most women want to be seen as Porcelain dolls whereas in reality there are no porcelain dolls. Good to rid of yourselves of layers of makeup once ina while or no makeup as one pleases.

The natural beauty , comes with education , healthy life, just doing every thing in moderation, goes a long way! One thing Nadia can do is tell women to use make up to enhance their natural look!,
