Priyanka Chopra's Quantico sparks Twitter fury for portrayal of Indian terrorists

The show faced backlash over portraying an Indian character as a terrorist
Updated 12 Jun, 2018

Priyanka Chopra's Quantico is running in its third and final season.

In the latest episode titled The Blood of Romeo, Priyanka as FBI anti-terrorism officer Alex Parrish attempts to foils plans of a nuclear attack in Manhattan by Indian nationalists who intended to blame Pakistan for it.

This has, of course, sparked an outrage among Indian viewers of the show and fans of the actor.

Many are holding Priyanka accountable for going along with the idea:

However, some have spoken in support of the episode:

Priyanka Chopra has not commented on the matter so far.

Update: In a joint statement, ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico shared: "We would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, 'The Blood of Romeo.' The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it. She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series."

"Quantico is a work of fiction. The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone," they added.

This is just a drama serial. However the Mumbai attack was planned and executed by Indian agencies and Pakistan was blamed. Read the newly published fact based book "Betrayal of India ".

Indians have degraded Pakistan for years in their films and by paying American TV series to promote negative propaganda against Pakistan. It's refreshing (and surprising) to see the reverse propaganda for once.

I can’t believe Indian government and army can kill their own people in the so called terrorist attack which is prepared by them just to blame Pakistan and keep their vote bank happy

They all put a bit of controversy to get publicity and enhance viewership and eventually to earn more money. Nothing new, nothing serious.

Com'on its a fictional series, they show all kinds of things, no need to get so much hyper. In 24 series, they used to show US Vice Prez involved in conspiracies, etc. What is the big deal. They are not hurting religion at least. Our holier than thou attitude is biggest impediment for our progress. Don't watch if you don't want to. Otherwise, just enjoy the storyline forgetting what passport you hold.

The show is cancelled because of its low ratings. This type of gimmickry is not going to save it. Very poor plot. A woman is willing kill thousands to save her son makes no sense.

Its just a TV show based on fiction. Relax! And yes, India did try to frame Pakistan for the train bombing, which was committed by an actual Indian Army official.

Well. Now the normal indians who do not follow politics get to see what black-ops really mean. We've seen many examples of Indian black-ops to blame Pakistan in the past (or sometimes indian muslims), in REAL. Mumbai drama, parliament shooting, samjhota express, military check post shooting just to name a few. Whether you like it or not, it is part of indian foreign policy.... doesn't matter who their PM is. BJP and Bajrangdal/RSS have too much of a stronghold on their establishment.

This all drama was to make it a hit Quantico in India as there is almost zero audience in India instead of preaence of Priyanka in it. It seems it is going to be hit in Pak rather in India.
