Did the makers get their inspiration from the wildly viral Aurat March poster?
Updated 08 Jun, 2018

Well, we didn't exactly see this coming but one poster from Aurat March has become the inspiration for an upcoming telefilm.

Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo will be airing this Eid on ARY Digital and stars Nadia Khan, Aimen Khan, Affan Waheed and Saleem Mairaj among others; it is being produced and directed by Kashif Saleem and has been written by Faiza Iftikhar.

Expanding a little on the plot, Nadia Khan explains, "It's the story of a newly-wed couple (Affan and Aimen) and their crazy neighbour, played by me. Affan is the dominant one in their relationship and with my husband, I'm the dominant one so I start brainwashing Aimen, misguiding these two. It's a negative role, I basically wreck their home life but this character is a total namoona so it comes off funny and not malicious."

Talking to Images, Kashif shares: "The poster from Aurat March started this conversation, about women reclaiming their power. It's a serious topic, the fact that men and women should be treated equally but we're keeping the content light as it's releasing on Eid so we'll be telling the story in a comedic way."

Aimen concurs: "This telefilm is not dogmatically feministic against what the name suggests. It's real, witty and intelligent and it defies the unreal ideology of feminism. And yet the message is put across in a light-hearted but impactful way. So I chose to do this meaningful comedy. And I'd urge everyone to watch it. I'm sure they won't be disappointed."
