Madhuri Dixit has taken over Sridevi's role in Abhishek Varman's upcoming film, following her untimely demise.

The late actor's daughter, Janhvi took to social media to thank Dixit for taking over a film that was "close to mom's heart".

The Dharma Productions venture supposedly features an ensemble cast that includes Alia Bhatt, Varun Drawn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur. According to Hindustan Times, the movie is set to be a period drama set in the 1940s, with partition serving as the backdrop and Manish Malhotra is designing the look for the entire cast.

That being said, the official cast and other details of the film are yet to be announced.
