Jamshoro makes history with 22-feet watercolour mural

15 foreign artists from China, Hong Kong, Serbia among other countries joined 10 local artists in the 22-feet creation

Foreign and local artists set a record by making a joint 22-metre-long painting at the five-day Second International Water­colour Biennale 2018 titled Pearls of Peace Season-II held at the Centre of Excellence in Arts and Design (CEAD) of the Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, on Friday.

The event, inaugurated on Wednes­day, has been organised by CEAD in collaboration with the International Watercolour Society (IWS).

The paintings on display depicted Sindh and its culture, especially the Thar region and its landscapes with various concepts.

Several thousands of visitors included students of various public and private educational institutions, art lovers, artists, teachers, dignitaries and writers.

They thronged the corridors going towards A.R. Nagori Gallery where 444 paintings from 60 countries are put on display and 20 foreign artists and more than 50 local artists keep sharing their experiences with the visitors.

15 foreign artists, including Liu Yi of China, Ze Ze of Hong Kong, Endre Penovac of Serbia and others, and 10 local ones participated in making history by painting a 22-metre-long sheet at a lawn of CEAD while carrying various thoughts focusing on Tharpar­kar.

Countries which are participating in the exhibition inclu­ded the US, Italy, Can­ada, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Iran, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Czech Repub­lic, Portugal, Roma­nia, Peru, Serbia and others.

The foreign artists also enjoyed ride of a well-decorated horse carriage within the premises of CEAD, folk and cultural music and dance of all four provinces during the musical night arranged in their honour.
