5 easy hacks to keep your skin problem-free in the summer

So much can go wrong with your skin when there's a special event coming up. Here are few ways that you can set it right
Updated 01 Mar, 2018

Let's face it — no prep for an event is complete without tons of last-minute anxiety, a wardrobe emergency, and a pimple (or two) ruining your day.

Whether it is your sister's shaadi or an important conference at work, be prepared to run after darzis and co-workers and expect a lot of shouting, running and tears.

However, nothing can top the horror of waking up with a pimple on the eve of the big day. If you're too lazy to invest in extensive skin care regimes and can't remember Zubeida Aapa's totkas for the life of you, here are some easy hacks that will hopefully keep these woes away.

1) Hydrate, hydrate, HYDRATE!

Remember the eight glasses a day rule!
Remember the eight glasses a day rule!

You can have all the vitamin-loaded drinks and collagen-packed teas you want, but the easiest way to take care of your skin is to have a lot of water. Water flushes evil toxins out of your skin, and keeps it looking fresh and young especially when the heat is unbearable!

Handy tip: Keep a flask in your bag instead of buying plastic bottles off the shelves as that's an environmental hazard too. Remind yourself to take a hydration break every now and then, especially when at work. Also, try and replace caffeine breaks with a glass of water!

2) Treat while you sleep

Let's face it, our schedules are crazy. It's difficult to maintain a skin routine when you are running to work half asleep, and after coming back home all exhausted. We recommend you just let a product do its thing while you snooze! A sleep mask or patch is perfect for taking care of any skin issues while you get your RnR.

3) Use a facial mist

The best thing about a facial mist is that it isn't demanding at all. Just two puffs and you're done!

Some even make their own mists by using rosewater in a spray bottle and that doesn't sound like hard work either. So give it a go.

4) Concealer is your best friend

Sometimes you really can't take care of a pimple that showed up on your skin like an unwanted guest at dinner. But unlike the unwanted guest, you can make this baddie disappear.

Concealer is the best short-term solution to a pimple. Just dab a little on to the trouble spot and blend with the skin. This is the best way to handle the bumpy situation at the event itself. You can always work on fixing the zit later!

Handy tip: Always make sure to remove all makeup and product from your skin before crashing for the day, no matter how tired you are. Makeup can clog your skin if not removed properly and lead to more breakouts. Use a gentle cleanser that isn't harsh on the skin and doesn't excessively remove natural oils.

5) Get a product that makes your life easy

Can't decide what cleanser, face wash or scrub to get for your skin? Don't have hours to walk with a mask on? Maybe get one product that lets you #GetItAll.

Enriched with clay and mineral zinc, Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1 works as a daily cleanser, scrub and mattifying mask that can visibly reduce impurities and help prevent their reappearance. It contains pumice, a natural exfoliating agent that can reduce dead skin cells and unclog pores, and white clay, which makes the skin smooth and reduces shine.
