Malala asked for packing tips for Oxford. How did Twitter respond?

The 20-year-old Nobel Prize winner is set to start her Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree at Oxford
01 Oct, 2017

As she packs for Oxford, education activist Malala Yousufzai has asked for advice.

"Packing for university," she tweets. "Any tips? Advice? Dos and dont's? #HelpMalalaPack"

And Twitter users have dipped into their uni packing experience and shared some valuable tricks!

There was LOTS of practical advice on offer:

This guy thinks Malala will need more pens than the average uni student!

Some suggested a non-essential or two wouldn't hurt...

People also offered tips on how she could make friends:

Some say Malala herself is the most important part of her move to Oxford:

We have to agree and wish Malala the very best of luck as she embarks on her uni life at Oxford!

Has any one thought, how expensive it is to study in Oxford. So many girls can get education in that amount.Malala, if so true to her cause, should donate that money and complete her studies from some other university which is not that expensive. You can still make a difference, it doesn't have to be Oxford. Malala, its your chance to prove that you are for real.

@Just a THOUGHT - The undergraduate tuition fees discounted at £9,250 a year in England is the same throughout, whether you are at Oxford or at another university and that too is given to the student as a loan. This is the same for all home students; only overseas students pay the full whack. So, you had a wrong thought.

@Just a THOUGHT.,she is already doing a lot for various educational projects why do you want to take this dream of education at Oxford? She had donated the majority of the Nobel money to School in Sawat area. She is running many schools in many countries. I just wonder how much have you donated to anyone's education while giving up your own dream? Why are we so negative ?

@Just a THOUGHT. I wish you had even one rational though in your head. Your idea won't prove that "she's for real" nor will it lead to any sustainable change in the long-run. Education, particularly an oxford education, can't be sacrificed as it's the one equalizer in our economic system as well as a proponent for change.

@syed Malala Yousafzai would have been admitted to Oxford even if she hadn’t won a Nobel Prize. Even without having done anything ‘extracurricular’, her profile is a great one. TSA Section 1 - 68.8 The TSA Section 1 is a pretty solid score too. The mean for accepted applicants is 71.3, so slightly below but not too far off. TSA Section 2 (Essay) – 73 The Essay score of 73 is fantastic, putting her way up in applicant scores. The mean for an accepted applicant is 66.3. Interview Average Score - 71.3 Her interviews were excellent too. Her score of 71.3 overall is quite a bit above the average of 68.9 for accepted applicants.

I wish and pray to Allah that may every girl born in Pakistan gets an opportunity to study. I pray that we see the day when education is not only the right of the privileged few. I pray that we see the day when we these girls prove wrong their families and those who oppose them by bringing in economic prosperity and rise in the social ladder.

@Just a THOUGHT. University tuition costs for Home Students (like Malala) are almost the same in all UK Universities. Accommodation costs may vary but most Uni's provide this for the first year only & students make their own arrangements thereafter so, applying elsewhere in the UK would not have saved any money.
