Vanity Fair responds to Angelina Jolie's criticism of their interview
Last week, Angelina Jolie's Vanity Fair magazine cover story raised a furor among people.
The interview, conducted by contributing editor Evgenia Peretz for the mag's September issue, mentions the actor's auditioning process of Cambodian children for her film's (First They Killed My Father) lead. The game involved the crew putting money on a table and asking them to think of what they needed it for. After offering it to the children, the money was then forcefully taken back. People were horrified by the procedure and called it 'cruel' and 'monstrous'.
Angelina responded to the allegations saying, "I am upset that a pretend exercise in an improvisation, from an actual scene in the film, has been written about as if it was a real scenario. The suggestion that real money was taken from a child during an audition is false and upsetting."

Vanity Fair has since responded and says it stands by its cover story.
The mag posted that it was contacted by the star's lawyer to revise their story as the incident had "mistakenly" been reported and to publish the corrected bits with the title "Angelina Jolie Correction" in their October issue.
However, VF reexamined the transcript and posted Angie and Peretz's exchange online. And said that "after reviewing the audiotape, VF stands by Peretz's story as published."
