Is Akshay Kumar going to play Indian PM Narendra Modi in his next film?

People say Akshay's "spotless image of an idealist and visionary" makes him fit for the role

Looks like Anupam Kher isn't the only one playing an Indian PM in his next film.

According to DNA, sources are saying that Akshay Kumar will be playing Narendra Modi in his next.

There have been rumours going around as to who would be playing this role, including Anupam Kher (who has already confirmed playing Manmohan Singh in his upcoming film) and Paresh Rawal.

"But the kind of reach and impact that Akshay Kumar’s presence will have in a story on Modi would be far-reaching and productive," says a source of DNA.

Whether it's true or not, this casting choice has definitely garnered support as many admit they would love to see the Rustom actor as the PM, including Central Board of Film Certification’s chairperson Pahlaj Nihlani, who says, “I can’t think of anyone better to play our Prime Minster than Akshay. He has a spotless image of an idealist and visionary. And look at the kind of work he’s doing. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Padman are the cinema of social reform that Guru Dutt and V Shantaram were associated with. Also, Akshay has risen from humble working class beginnings to become a national star, just like Modiji. We are certainly looking at a strong possibility of Akshay playing Modiji.*

We have so many questions, like what the film is, if it is the same film in which we'll see Anupam Kher's Singh, what the film aims to show and of course, how true this is! Oh well, we'll just have to wait and find out.

Indians are jumping the gun on this guy. The true results of his policies will be evident after ten years. You can celebrate or mourn it then.

It is better not to act rather to go flop. Is going to be 100% flop movie.

What is the rush? Give him Modi time to prove himself first! Bollywood seems overly keen to make biopics of people who are still alive and still far from closing their final chapters. Typically premature!
