As Pakistan Super League (PSL) enters its knockout phase, the tournament continues to tantalise audiences with nail-biting matches, often going down to the last ball.

As fans from across the internet get in on the action, using social media to add their two cents to the action unfolding on-field, one lucky fan has ended up with Rs15000 worth of Careem credit.

Adil Awan's challenge

Talking to dawn.com, Adil Siddiq Awan, a Karachiiite who recently moved to Lahore, explained how his friends had informed him about Hair to Help, a Pakistan Youth Forum program which collects hair donations in order to make wigs for female cancer patients, and had repeatedly asked him to donate his luscious locks for a good cause.

Adil admitted that he hasn’t been wholeheartedly supporting Karachi Kings this season, but decided to back his hometown team in the knock out stages.

To make things interesting and to spread the word about Hair to Help, he decided to challenge the ride hailing service to a wager on the result of yesterday’s knockout fixture between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United. Adil, who is the co-founder of a digital PR company, was impressed to receive a quick response from Careem.

Little did he know that Careem's quite the impulsive bettor! It had already accepted a bet initiated by TCS's Yayvo about the outcome of the same match.

The terms of Adil's wager were simple. If Karachi Kings loses, Adil would shave off his long locks and donate them to Hair to Help. On the flip side, if Karachi Kings won, Careem would reward him with Rs 15000 worth of free rides.

Much to the disappointment of Adil’s mother, who was hoping for an Islamabad United win that would result in her son getting a long awaited haircut, Karachi Kings won.

Careem keeps its word

Staying true to their word, Careem credited Adil’s account with the free credit. And they've also set up a meeting to send out Careem voucher to Yayvo customers, as promised.

It was TCS's Yayvo that kicked off the betting business

Since the aim was always to help a good cause, Adil says he is going to place another wager on the result of the PSL 2017 final, putting his hair on the line once again.

We’re all wondering who will step up to take up his challenge this time. Some Twitter users have suggested that at the end of it all, Adil should donate his hair regardless of the outcome.
