Award and fashion week season is now in full swing which means out favourite celebrities and Instagram stars will be swooshing down red carpets in some of the most glamourous looks.

But all that jazz comes at a cost. While it's true that many items are loaned out to the rich and famous, we try to find out the price tag and figure out how much it would cost the average person to get red carpet ready.

Here's how the numbers break down:

Umair Mirza of Umairica

What he wore to fashion week last year: The blogger/Instagram influencer looked dapper in an embroidered Arsalan Iqbal jacket and shoes paired with plain black pants and styled by N-Gents.

Price tag: Almost Rs38,000. He admits he's not sure, meaning it was probably a loaned item but for the jacket, he shares "it's easily over Rs20,000."

Haiya Bokhari

What she wore last year: The celebrity stylist revealed that her top was from Ali Xeeshan, shalwar was Generation and the clutch was Nina Nehri. Her khussas were from Liberty and the jewellery she had collected over the years from different places, including earrings from Sapphire.

Price tag: Nearly Rs30,000, give or take a few. The top alone was a whopping Rs14,000!

Anusheh Shahid of Style Haven

What she wore last year: The fashionista wore a hot off the runway HSY ensemble from his Onyx Collection that showed on the first day of FPW16. "It's a quilted jacket that I belted and wore off shoulder with a necklace from the same collection." She paired it with her own black Zara heels.

Price tag: Over Rs116,000! Heck, that jacket alone is Rs95,000!

Hair and Makeup

Don't think that if you've gotten your outfit ready you're good to go! even after accessorizing you need to get your hair and makeup done!

Getting your hair and makeup done from Nabila's (Because of course, you need Nabila's) for an event like FPW will cost you Rs12,000. Like the outfits that are usually loaned to the celebs, salons also offer discounts to such attendees.

Maira Pagganwala

What she wore last year: Maira keeps it casual with her Zara jeans and American Apparel tee but let's a jacket from Victor & Rolf be all the statement she needs, while backing it up with Gucci sneakers and bag.

Price tag: Maira's look goes way over Rs186,000! What do you expect after accessorising with Gucci!

We have firmly in the age of hedonism! The entire society is into out doing each other with spending on bling bling, while we fall behind on all indices of progress and development - education, healthcare, equality, justice, poverty, basic amenities and respect in the world.

Still very economical when compared with the rest of the world.

Clearly, some of this crap called 'fashion' is not worth the pricey tags! If you cannot breath or sit in those skinny tight pants, than you might as well stay home! I wouldn't have anything to do with this nonsense, even if they paid me for it.

What a waste - but..to each his own. Height of consumerism.

Shameless consumerism, in one of the poorest countries of the world! If I was running the country, I would outlaw flashiness by superficial people, who amount to nothing and do noting to help the less fortunate.

On the other hand, no self-respecting fashionista, will be caught dead wearing $40 pair of shoes to such a fancy event. It is all about perception and image they want to create. By many standards, some of these hideous duds are too cheap for red carpet. But in Pakistan, it is all about drawing attention, show-off, pretentiousness, and feeling'special'. I bet you, most of these people arrived at this fare, in cars driven by a poor driver, who only earns Rs 4000 a month to feed his family of four or five!!!

how delightful, good for them they have money & the heart to spend it what's the use having money & not spend it , no place for the middle class their minds can not imagine this level of affluence so their comments are likely to be cheap

@MAK - Yeah sure, the rest of us middle-class plebeians "cannot imagine the level of affluence" that someone would call themselves trendy and affluent with a cheap Rs 4100 pair of shoes, Where did she buy this Chinese plastic junk? Walmart online, or Metro or Carrefour Warerhouse?? My Belt cost me $50 alone, but it remains hidden from view most of the time, Because you see, I didn't but to show off, nor to impress how much I can afford, but rather for quality and comfort. And I will remain happy middle-class, because I don't care for cameras or red carpet with fake people. Like they say, 'I don't want to join a club, which accepts members like you.'

At times, the Price doesn't follow the intrinsic demand-supply curve, you have to price high to make people think its something of value.

This is like fashion surgery. The more you spend and the more you do it, the worse you look. Those outfits look bad!
