The Lion King is getting a remake.

After the success of Jungle Book, director Jon Favreau has decided to walk on the wild side and laugh in the face of danger by planning to remake one of Disney's most beloved movies, The Lion King.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the remake of the 90's classic will not be live action but will look it. The film shall be made in photorealistic CG.

Before you get angry and ask Favreau to dress in drag and do the hula, hear him out!

The Iron Man director knew this would have fans of the 1994 classic going "Life's not fair, is it?" so he gave us the best news we could imagine. He got James Earl Jones to reprise his role as Mufasa. Oh well, Hakuna Matata!

Tony Award and Golden Globe winner James Earl Jones has also lent his voice for Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise. Two iconic and very, very different fathers.

Favreau also revealed who our favourite lion cub and future king shall be!

Writer turned actor Donald Glover, who just won a Golden Globe for his work in Atlanta will be taking his place in the great circle of life as Simba.

The Lion King remake has not been given a release date as of yet.

If Favreau gets Jeremy Irons and Rowan Atkinson on board as well this might be something Disney fans would love! Or else we'll take his stick!
