Deepika isn't working with Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi after all
Looks like this one goal hasn't been checked off on Deepika Padukone's bucket list.
Last year, photos of Children of Heaven director Majid Majidi and Deepika in the completely de-glammed avatar of a slum-dweller went viral. It was rumoured that she's been cast in the Iranian filmmaker's new project Beyond The Clouds, which is based in India.
However, it turns out that the photos were only from a look test, not a shoot.
In a press conference yesterday, Majidi announced that he will not be working with Deepika in Beyond The Clouds.
"I want to work with Deepika. But for this film we thought we will go with all new faces. We decided so because we didn’t want a mixture of experienced and new faces. It was going to be either of the two (experienced or new faces). We settled for all new star cast.”

Beyond The Clouds will instead launch the career of Ishaan Khattar, Shahid Kapoor's step-brother. Majidi has also roped in A.R.Rahman for the music of the film.
According to a DNA report, “[Beyond The Clouds] is an Indian story and will be shot in Mumbai, Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and Kashmir. It will take off towards the year-end or early 2017 and is a signature Majidi film with new takes on relationships and emotional quotients.” It is slated to release by the end of this year.
