Shaan asks PM Nawaz Sharif to form committee for the screening of Pakistani films in India

The plea to form a committee that does so comes after the announcement of one for Indian films to be screened here
Updated 18 Jan, 2017

Everyone knows that Shaan Shahid is a true patriot.

So when on Monday the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif constituted a committee headed by Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb to look into the matter of Indian movies being banned from local cinemas, the actor had a suggestion.

Shahid took to his social media accounts to make a "humble request" to the PM which entailed that if a committee was being made to screen Indian films here, one should also be formed to ensure that Pakistani films are shown in cinemas across the border.

Seems like a fair request. We wonder if the PM will take it into consideration...

In the past, screening of Bin Roye in India was banned due to objections by a group called Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNSKS).

Bowing to the demands of MNSKS, Bollywood distributor B4U films decided to ban the Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed starrer in Maharashtra.

Pakistani films are super sub-par films equivalent to C-grade, no one's going to watch it in India. Come up with better products, if you want the customer to buy.

India is an entity, not a country that works on any principles. How can the PM make India listen to him for films when it refuses even to talk on anything without agreeing to its nefarious designs?

@Rocky: India produces over a thousand films a year and 90% of those are just rubbish. Besides, new faces always get audiences.

"As culture should not only be imported It can exported also, Regards Shaan Shahid" In order to compete in global marketplace, you need quality products & right now the quality of your movies is too low to be exported. When people in Pakistan also prefer to watch Indian movies over Pakistani movies, how do you expect Indians to watch Pakistani movies? Personally I have tried watching a few Pakistani movies in the last few years & could not watch any of them beyond 20 minutes.

@chandrashekhar bramhane "Pakistan shud accept realities, Pak films are not at par to Indian counterpart in terms of entertainment ....." Very true our films are and never will be at par with the crap shown in Indian movies and all in the name of entertainment!. Pakistani film industry must look west towards Iran, Turkey and Hollywood for inspiration. Ape-ing Indians will only generate flop movies.

Indians will watch Pakistani movies if they are in 'par' with Bollywood movies. Currently they are not. Music and singing is a very important part of Bollywood. Pakistani music and singers are almost completely unknown in India. For a starter, that has to change.

Khuda ke liye and Bol were screened in India. There is no law preventing screening of Pakistani movies in India. It is a matter of Pakistani producers agreeing on a price with Indian distributors based on the commercial prospects of the movie.

Right on, Shaan. India stop stealing Hollywood stories, MTV and VH1 choreography and Pakistani music then see Indian films are worthless. Copycats…… Most Bollywood movies are garbage. Pakistani movies are little in production but high quality.

Pakistani films in general are no match with those of India. I appreciate Shaan's patriotic feeling but that has nothing to do with market mechanism for success of films. Yes Pakistani TV dramas are of high standards and their screening in India can be considered

Exchange of movies and other means of entertainment are a source of developing friendship and its promotion should always be encouraged specially amongst neighbouring countries. But unfortunately the situation is different when one talks of India and Pakistan. First and foremost , there should be cleaning of hearts and elimination of jealousy and ill feelings between them.
