Mawra Hocane's dream actor isn't Ranbir Kapoor anymore

"I was mesmerised by his performance, the way he took over the show," she says of her new star crush
24 Oct, 2016

Mawra Hocane has expressed time and again her wish to work with Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, but it seems she has changed her mind!

In a radio interview with Special Broadcasting Service SBS in Sydney, the Sanam Teri Kasam actor revealed that Ali Zafar is one artist she dreams to work with: "I hope I can work with him soon, he's a wonderful human being and he's such a great performer. He opened the show at the Lux Style Awards and though I knew him from before, I was mesmerised by his performance - the way he took over the show."

It's news to us too!

But he's not the only one she's hoping to work alongside onscreen, Mawra revealed that she and her sister Urwa Hocane are looking for projects in which the two can work together.

"We're looking forward to working together; we're waiting for a good script, because usually they [TV shows] show sisters fighting or being envious of each other, or destroying the other's families'. So we're waiting for a script which displays the essence of sisterhood," added the starlet.

Her sister also serves as her inspiration, more so after Urwa's recent hit TV serial Udaari, which centres around the sensitive topic of child abuse, and Mawra discloses that her upcoming Hum TV drama Sammi is also along the same lines.

On the Pak-India divide, and ban on Indian films, the actor stands firmly for local cinema, assured that we are not dependent on international films to get back up.

She said, "I don't feel we're dependent on anybody [Bollywood or Hollywood films]. I personally believe there's no lack of talent in our country, nor entertainment in this world. Our dramas are the best in the world, they're recognised globally for being the best [sic]. The only reason we watch other country's films is for our own exposure, so it's not about the need or the lack thereof of our films."

If you're guessing about her upcoming films, she's keeping mum about them, though she did hint at her next role saying that she will not be playing another 'damsel in distress'.

Ali Zafar and Ranbhir Kapoor are the only ones she can dream of. There are lots of good actors but she chose to work with the two overrated and over smart actors.

What a change of Mind. Now she will start liking all Pakistani actors because she is no longer allowed in India. Shaan is making a movie called king of GANDASA, lead role of heroin is still available you should seriously consider it.

Urwa Hocane ? I thought only Mawra had changed her name. Has all her family changed it too or the two sisters only? Now about the ban on Pakistani industry and actors. I can't describe how ashamed I am because of acts of my government but I hope the sensitive people across the border won't lose rationality or take it personally against ordinary Indian citizens or bollywood. It's the government propaganda to create a divide which itself isn't a genuine representative of India nor does it care about nationalism but speaks of it for their political objects. Once again, I am sorry for what Pakistani celebs, artist have been made to face by this government of crooks.

Like to thank India for banning our actors...finally the local industry will become stronger after this adversity. Mawra will now have to come back on the ground.

Her work in Sanam Teri Kasam was excellent. Well just leave casting work to directors cause opportunities don't come frequently.

Mawra is an emerging artist who can be a great asset to any film Industry. Undoubtedly she would have made her name in Bollywood had it not been the evil act of the extremists.

Thank you, Pakistani Actors are far more good looking and talented then the Indians. Has anyone ever seen a Indian Actor without makeup and screen filters, I have and it not a very good sight.

@Sameer My thoughts exactly. Our talent ( not applicable to actress in question) will be confined to Pakistan and good things will happen! Thankyou India.
