Mahira Khan's 'Raees' and Ali Zafar's 'Dear Zindagi' promised safe release by MNS

However, filmmakers in India will no longer be able to work with Pakistani talent in the future

Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan can thank Karan Johar for the safe release of their film Raees.

According to The Indian Express the Shah Rukh-Mahira starrer and SRK's other ongoing project Dear Zindagi alongside Alia Bhatt and Ali Zafar will not face opposition from Indian political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

Following the meeting between Karan Johar, Film & Television Producers Guild of India President Mukesh Bhatt, MNS chief Raj Thackeray and CM Devendra Fadnavis, the party has come to a decision that films which were shot with Pakistani actors before the Uri attack wll not face prosecution by the MNS.

Working president of Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena, Shalini Thackeray said: "They always said that these films were shot before the (Uri) attack happened. So, in today’s meeting, it became clear that apart from the three films which have been completed -- Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Raees and Dear Zindagi -- no other films with Pakistani artistes will be released."

"No films with Pakistani actors will be shot. This was decided by the CM, MNS, and producers guild together," she added.

The meeting also concluded on the note that all the Film & Television Producers Guild of India will not longer be working with Pakistani artists in the future and those who have worked with Pakistani artists will have to donate a hefty sum to the Army Relief Fund and sign a contract ensuring they will not work with neighbouring talent.

The producers were told not to ever cast a Pakistani actor and Pay 5 million to the " Indian Army" and I don't know how much to the Blackmailers. Sorry to see how the Central Indian Government is so helpless against these THUGS.

@irfan just like how India needs moderates, we also need iron fisted parties like MNS to keep india together. Else there are so called peacenicks ready to break india into many pieces. There are also JNU student leaders who demand the government to break india.

So the cost of patriotism in India is just US$ 750000? But also read Indian Army has refused to accept the donations as its not voluntary but coercion? Does it mean the India producers have to pay patriotic tax of US$ 750000? How they have arrived at this formulae? By the way how much consultancy fee MNS has charged? Cost of producing films in India is going high..

@stargazer Nothing to do with world's largest democracy. It is called national pride and love for our army who protect us. Nothing wrong in supporting our own people. This is what democracy is all about. Given the situation will you not do the same? In fact, you have banned all our movies at Govt. level? Isn't it?

The rise of intolerance in India continues to surprise me. Btw if Indians are being told "Pakistani actors khaate hamara hain aur loyalty Pakistan se dikhate hain" then they should also be told that Indian movies make manifold in earnings from Pakistan than all the collective earnings of Pakistani actors in India.

@TanMaratha - Bhau, first of all, I am a big fan of Maratha valor and patriotism. Historically they have proved their mettle and courage. Its beyond doubt. Also, Maha-Rashtra, is my favorite province of India. There is a reason why Mumbai and Pune are safest cities for women in India. there is a reason why people from all over india migrate to these cities. If Marthas, were a little more sensible and liberal in their approach, entire North-India would have been standing with them in "3rd battle Panipat" . But in their high-handedness, arrogance and limited world-view, we all lost that glorious and historical chance. If we would have won Panipat, there would be no problems in the indian subcontinent that we face today. The consequences were historical and disastrous. I see no change in Maratha world-view even today. We must learn from History. Har har Mahadev!
